Default How do I...

I'm trying to make an ATC for the AKA gallery, but something has me stumped and frustrated. How do I change the color of the dotted rule lines that are in between the brackets? I've changed the color of the brackets, but when I try to do the same thing to the dotted lines, it doesn't work.

Can anyone help? Please?!?

Try selecting the "journaling brush" layer then Layer>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation (Ctrl-U). Then just move the slider for Hue until it's the right color. If you want it to be a specific color, make that your foreground color before making a hue adjustment. Then when you do Ctrl-U, click "colorize" and slide the Saturation slider to get things more precise. HTH (btw, these are CS2 instructions, but I'm pretty sure PSE uses the same shortcuts).

Cassie is way more PS savvy than I am, however, here's an easy way that Pattie Knox taught us to change the color of solid color elements which I use. I use PSE 3.0 and it is very possible the directions are different for PS or PSE 4 or 5. First select the color you want and make it the foreground color over in your tool bar on the left of your screen in PSE. If you click on the foreground color the color palette will come up so that you can choose the color you want. Then click on the layer for the brackets and dots to select it. Go up to the edit menu and choose FILL LAYER. A Box will come up that allows you to select foreground color. Then just click on OK and your bracket and your dots will be the new color. I think this is fast and easy.

Cassie, correct me please if this is not correct for Photoshop. Also, it could be that Cassie's way allows for more subtlety of color.

Merr, you're totally right. Sometimes I go about things via the "long road!"

After reading your post I realized that in CS2, all I would do is choose my foreground color, ctrl-click the thumbnail of the layer to color (get marching ants), then type Option-Delete (alt-delete on a PC). This will fill that layer.

Thank you , Merr

Cassie and Merrilee, thanks so much for your help! I just uploaded my ATC to the AKA Challenge gallery...minus the journaling brush! After I posted my question, I decided to delete that layer and just wing it...check it out and let me know what you think, OK?

I will open up the template and try your tips -- I need the practice!

*big applause* to Cassie and Merrilee!

Oh, that is a great idea to give people the link to those directions. I forgot we now have them so handy, thanks to you, Cassie.

Meanwhile, Kelly, how're you doing on your ATC?

oops we were posting at the same time, Kelly! I'm off to look at your ATC!
