Default How about a "getting to know you" thread!? Lurkers, DeLurk!!

Just a little check in to say hi and to know who is hanging out! We want to hear from everyone.

My name is Candy and I have been digi-scrapping for about 14 months. I am married to Joe and we have a 6 year-old, Mia. She is the subject of almost every single LO... I figure if anything she will have a play by play book of her little life!! LOL I use a Digital Rebel to take photos.

I am not the best at defining my style... I love simple but I also love other styles.. I just go with what feels right I suppose.

Random:
I love pens and paper. I like to drive fast. I work 30 hours a week. I have never broken a bone. I love Mountain Dew and iced tea. I could live at Target. I love cars. I really love to be organized but sometimes I am too lazy!

Ok, so I am also a talker... you don't have to talk as much, but you can if you'd like, LOL!

Great thread Candy... I'll follow your lead!

My name is Natalie and my family has nicknamed me "Gallery". They think they are soooo funny! I am married with 2 kids and have been scrapping for a total of 10+++ years. I started digi scrapping last April and about 6 months into it, I gave all my paper supplies away! Like Candy, I also use a digital Rebel and I am completely trigger happy and dangerous when it's in my hands!

I would have to say my scrapbook style could best be described as organized chaos. I completely admire all styles!

Random: I work 40 hours a week. I'm terrified of whales, sharks, fish, dolphins and any type of sea creatures... just thinking about what lurks under the ocean makes my skin crawl. I must have a Venti non-fat/sugar-free Vanilla Latte from starbucks 7 days a week or I can NOT function. I love bookstores. My favorite outfits are matching track suites and tennis shoes. I hate combing my hair and 99% of the time it's pulled back in a ponytail. I love anything pink, good smelling and girly!

OK, I'm stopping right there because I could go on and on with random facts... hmmm.. maybe a LO is a good idea, LOL!

Hope to hear from everyone!!!

OK - my name is Kylie - but I get called MUUUMMMMYY most of the time! I have two girls - Madison (3) and Mackenie (17 months), a husband, a dog and 4 chooks (that really need to start earning their keep by upping the output of eggs - OR - I will be cooking roast!).

I started digi-scrapping around November last year -and now I am hooked. I juts wish I had more hours in the dya to explore the digi-world. I have paper scrapped....ummm.....3 layouts! Too messy.

Random:
I have no idea what a Venti non-fat/sugar-free Vanilla Latte is - but to function, I really need 8 hours sleep - which is not possible becuase of this horrid digi-scrapping thing that I discovered! I am also a personal trainer, swim instructor, and have a fledgling web design business. I love chocolate and bacon (not together!) - and the perfect day for me would be 'mucking about' with my family. I am not scared of underwater life - I live next door to the sea - but I am not a huge fan of crawly objects. AARRGGHH!

Ummm - I could keep going forever - but I'll give you some peace now!

I'll join in the fun! My name is Lynn (Grandmalynnie) and I've been digital scrapping for about a year and a half (sounds like an introduction to Scrappers Anonymous!) I have one completed paper album which nearly drove me crazy and emptied my wallet! I have five grown children whose pictures I am attempting to scrap little by little. I also have seven grandchildren who are the main subject of my layouts. I will be retiring from my job as a first grade teacher in 47 days-but who's counting! Then I hope to have TONS of time to scrap! I love using all the great designs from Katie and the other designers. They inspire me! It so much fun to see all the new names popping up on the site! Welcome!

Oh, this is fun!
I'm Andrea. I began scrapping at the beginning of February and instantly fell in love. Photography is my first love so scrapping just naturally fit! I love being able to create the story of my children's childhoods for them. I didn't have a baby book or many photos of myself as a child, let alone a scrapbook so I feel strongly about the importance of scrapbooking.
I am a proud mommy to a three year old daughter and 18 month old son. Every day is an adventure with them! I have a very part-time photography business. I live in a small town in Illinois and I long to leave and live in a more beautiful place but I can't bare to leave my family

Here are some random facts about me:
I'm going to homeschool my children.
I've been on a diet for 10 years
I shoot with a D70.
I hate socks and shoes.
I've never been to a Starbucks or Krispy Kreme.
We don't live near a Target!
I love traveling even if it's just a weekend getaway.
I'm very indecisive.
I own a minivan.
I secretly jam to rap in my minivan when driving alone.
I want to be an organized person but I seem to thrive with chaos.
Designer Digitals is hands down my favorite scrapping store.

Oh, and I like to talk!

I wanna play too!!

My name is Jessica (jesshunt) and I live in Eugene, Oregon. I've been scrapping digitally since November of 2004 - currently I'm using the Canon EOS Digital Rebel and PSE4 to do my scrapping. My husband Wil and I have been married for almost 3 years now....no children but we do have 3 of the most beautiful cats I've every seen (if I do say so myself!) I'm sure you have or will see them in my layouts

My style - good question! Most of the time I think it's mostly straight lines and clean design....I try to get outside the box, but I'm just so comfy in there!

Random: I can give IQ tests - the real ones, not the internet kind I play tennis competitively, I'm originally from Wisconsin - a cheesehead, speaking of cheese....I love that cheese in a can, I'm addicted to office supplies and secretly long to be a secretary, and I LOVE watching reality TV!

Can't wait to learn more about everyone else

Fun thread!

My name is Terri Davenport. I've been digitally scrapping for two years. I started paper scrappin about nine years ago and can't completely give it up, so I switch back and forth depending on what the pictures seem to need and how messy my scraptable is at the moment. I have a Digital Rebel XT, still getting used to it even though I've had it since June. I use PSE2, continually think about upgrading but haven't got past the thinking stage at the moment.
I'm a sahm of four boys. My youngest starts kindergarten in the fall. Have thought about going back to work soon, but nothing definitive. I've also been married to my dh for 13 years and we live in Ohio.
Random stuff:
Hate snakes...totally freak me out.
love reading
dream job: doing voices for animated movies or taste testing in a bakery
am quite introverted with people that I don't know well, but public speaking doesn't bother me in the least. Go figure.

Terri

What a fantastic idea!!

My name is Jodi. I live in Central Texas with the loves of my life - My DH of 10 1/2 years, Mark, and my two sweet kiddos - Lydia, age 4 and Cade, age 18 months. We're a one cat family currently having lost one of our cats to kidney failure in December 2004, and our dog to cancer last May.

I've been digi scrapping since the fall of 2003. I did one paper layout prior to that and it was horrible! LOL! I would say that about 90% of my LOs look paper scrapped, but there is that 10% of the time that I go with a graphic look.

Random facts: Along with my digi scrapping obsession came my obsession for photography. I mostly just photograph my own kids, but this past holiday season I did photo sessions for 8 families. I became engaged to my DH 36 hours after I actually met him in person...we had been penpals prior to that. I lived in Saudi Arabia for the first 2 1/2 years of my marriage. I am passionate about adoption. I am terrified of birds in enclosed places.

Okay, I will go next. My name is Teri (probably couldn't have figured that one out huh?). I live in a small town in SW Idaho with my wonderful husband Doug. We have been married for 23 years. We do not have any children, but love spending time with our nieces and nephews and kids in our community. We have 4 horses, 2 labs, and a Manx kitty and spoil them all rotten

I am an Occupational Therapist, but currently I stay home and focus on my "family" and community involvement (4-H leader, therapeutic riding, etc....). I started digi scraping in December 2005 and seem to be completely addicted to it. I tried paper scraping a long time ago, but it just wasn't for me. I shoot with a Nikon D50 and have become completely obsessed with taking pictures. I haven't completely figured out my style, but I tend to like things with clean lines.

Random Facts:
I have been to the original Starbucks. I have been to the original Albertsons. I love to ride horses. I love to sew. I can't live without chocolate and red wine. I don't shower every day. I am the only girl in my family. I hate rain. If I can't get it online or in my small town, I probably don't need it. Love college football and March Madness. My perfect vacation is packing (with horses) into the Idaho backcountry with my hubby, or just packing a swimsuit and going somewhere tropical I love sunsets.

Could go on and on.........Oh, I love this site

Hi, my name is Sara and I'm a scrapaddict.. oh sorry... wrong meeting! LOL!

I also live in Central Texas (!) with my sweet DH of 22 years and our 2 boys. Our oldest is in college at Baylor (where my DH is a prof!) and the youngest is 6. Yes, God has a sense of humor!

I've been scrapbooking *forever* (okay, so just more years than I want to admit to), digitally for a couple of years. I work as a scrapbook teacher for Epson, so I travel to conventions a couple of times a month and teach digital scrapbooking. Dream job. I've had a little hiatus the past few weeks... it's about to get crazy again in a week or so.

I shoot with a digital Rebel and I am apparently quite obnoxious about taking too many photos of my family. Just ask them.

Random facts: I've lived in Hong Kong and Thailand. I love to cook. I am afraid of driving in traffic. I wake up every day in awe of my blessings.

Great thread! Here's my ramblings:

I live in NE Ohio with my long suffering husband of 28 years...a goofy Lab and a snooty cat. We have two grown children....our DS works for Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati and our DD is a college student majoring in Education.

My "day job" is at the same elementary school that Grandma Lynnie works at...but I've got a lot more time to put in. (I'm very jealous of her! ) I'm a Technology Support specialist and most days I love my job.

I've been digi-scrapping for a little over a year and a half now and I can assure you that I'll NEVER paper scrap again! My style? Danged if I know! Mostly I just slap stuff around on the screen until I like the way it looks. I'm really never completely satisfied with a layout...I'm just such a slo-o-o-o-ow scrapper that I eventually think "enough is enough!" and flatten that puppy!

I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel and I LOVE saying that! It was a Christmas gift from my husband and children this year and I'm still just giddy from the joy of owning such a marvelous camera.

So...more about ME than anybody wants or needs to know I'm sure!

This is too much fun.... Andibean, you have me cracking up! Jaming to rap music in my minivan is one of my best kept secrets too!

OK, so lets juice up this thread a little.... every one who already responded come back and give a few more random facts that no one would ever guess, something you wouldn't normaly share right away! If you are just joining in..don't forget to add this too!

I'll start... I'm a closet Prince Fan!! Yup, it's bad. Most people don't know "I'M A TRUE FUNK SOLDIER"

One more.. my front, right tooth is a fake, a phony, a fraud! I knocked it right out of my mouth when I was riding my bike and flew over the hood of a "parked" car because I wasn't paying attention! No, I wasn't little, I was in high school.. what a dope!

OK, so fess up! If we really want to get to know each other we have to tell all!

Howdy all!! I'm Kate (another obvious one! LOL) Yes, I'm an addict too- I think that is the proper term for this thread- "Get to know you and welcome to our Scrapper's Anonymous"

I've been digi now for a year and a half. I still do paper as well but not as much as I used too. I love both, but the ease of digi rocks my world. Lately, I have hardly scrapped at all as I have been busy designing and designing and designing. I also design paper for Fontwerks and love that too.

My style is to tell a story with my photos. I love to look at all my photos before I begin and then choose the ones that "speak" to me and tell me the story. Then islap those ones down, add some paper and embellies and I'm done. I like clean lines and modern things. But I love to look at and pour over more complicated stuff- just can't seem to get myself to do it! I live for clean lines.

I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT and I LOVE it! I got it for XMas this year and I have fallen in love with it. I have an 85mm 1.8 lens that rocks my world! Yay for Canon and their awesome rebates!

I'm teaching at a scrap retreat next month and I am super excited as it's my first foray into teaching. I am a teacher by trade (grade two) but this will be my first time with adults! I'm excited (And Tia is teaching too- another yay!)

Random:
I have been a grade 1/2 teacher for 8 years now and still enjoy it but work only 3 days/week now to spend some time at home with my munchkin.
I love tea- Eral Grey is my fave and lately I'm adoring the London Fog
I have MS and walk in a local MS walk every spring
The main reason I switched to digi was that I had a major MS attack last year and my right arm went completely numb and it was too hard to use my fingers for brads etc.... It is about 60% recovered now and that's about as good as it is going to get, but it's all good
I take shots three times a week but I'm a needle wimp so my DH gives them to me!
I have had two HM's in the CK Hall of Fame and the big prize alludes me although I did not enter this year (bad timing and well I procrastinated tooooo long!)
I have met some of my closest friends through this hobby
My Dad gave me my first SLR as my 16th B-day present and I still have it
I can talk a lot as evidenced here! Phew!

Hi everybody--

Hmmm--14 posts, over a hundred views? Seems there are still a couple of lurkers out there! Guess I'll be brazen and hopefully get some of the lurkers and newbies out into the open with me. (Other lurkers, please don't leave me twisting in the wind all by myself!)

I'm yet another person with an incredibly clever user name. I live in southern CA, 20 miles from the nearest M or J, and I am so excited to get this site from inside my home! No more 40 mile craft runs! Sadly, I'm a computer klutz, and such a bad photographer that I have no photos that "speak" to me--I'm lucky if they kinda whisper a bit. But I looooove design--color, pattern, texture...sigh!

My husband is self-employed and bought me this computer so I could do his paperwork. BWAhahaha! Yes, I do it when he's looking this way.

I finally jumped into digital with both feet in Jan--my resolution for the year. And I'm proud to say I'm still doing pretty well with keeping that resolution. Maybe a little too well? Nah! Katie hooked me up with a copy of DWD when everyone else was out of it, so I'm holding her responsible for this addiction. And Natalie. I got so discouraged, I once thought about quitting but she wrote me (Tali, an idol who I admire wrote me!) and now here I am, embarrassing myself.

Maybe Teri can relate to this--I graduated from Borah.

My first name is actually Sidne, I have a son in 3rd grade who is my scrapping inspiration and nemesis. He always wants the computer. (Sorry Josh. I'm doing work for your father in a minute!) I think this world is so darn fascinating that I get easily sidetracked from what I should be doing and...oops, there's my husband!

OK, no one should feel intimidated at all about joining in after this entry!

Yay, some California girls! I started life in Pico Rivera and then moved out to Fountain Valley in 4th grade and was there until I left for college. Since no one has ever heard of FV, I use to tell people I was from Orange County. But now because of the O.C. tv show people think I'm rich when I say that, and I have to explain that I'm from the slummy side of the O.C. - LOL.

Oh, it is on Candy and Natalie! I double dog dare you to post your best big hair pics by tomorrow. Nobody is beating my 4" bangs!

Okay, let's get really random (I'm working on 4 hours sleep and I'm ready to crash. I may regret this in the morning.):

-I have a deep and abiding love for peanut butter
-I will paint my toe nails any color under the sun but cannot stand anything but clear on my finger nails
-I have to have no less than 10 toilet paper squares when I...well, you know.
-I was totally into punk and ska growing up. I even shaved around my ears a little to get a chicken mohawk.
-I really dislike it when people don't smile back
-I can't stand it when people act like they are still in high school
-Talking one on one to someone is more frightening for me that speaking in front of hundreds of people
-My childhood nickname was Smelly Kellie

Susan, your a Boise girl! Wow! Boise is the big city to us.......when we go there we say, we have to go over the hill.......

You want more random facts huh? I thought "not showering everyday" was TMI by itself

-My H.S. graduating class had 42 in it
-If I had a my druthers, I would own 100 acres and build my house right in the middle of it
-I married my H.S. sweetheart
-I love to can peaches
-I have the premiere date of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 marked on my calendar
-I am a better shot than most of the men in my family
-I don't know how to change the oil in my pickup
-I have never gotten a traffic ticket

.......hmmm, I think that is way more than you wanted to know and you probably all think that I am a freak

Thumbs up Wow...this is so much fun

Are you ready ... I am from the UK *gasp*

In my layouts I won't be using a 'period', I'll be using a 'full stop' and I'll use an 's' where you might use a 'z' (which, by the way, I'll call a 'zed', but you'll call a 'zee')!!! There's more, but I won't bore you all

I have two boys (Zack who's 4 in June and Ethan who was born last October) and one husband (Richard). Richard was diagnosed with a rare from of lymphoma 3 years ago, so spends quite a bit of time in hospital - but that's just our life and we deal with it our own way and scrapping is my way of 'escaping'. I was never a paper scrapper - I bought a lot, but never found the time and still have LOADS of supplies. I started digi last October and am totally 100% addicted. I got a Digital Canon (EOS350D) for Christmas and love it!!!

Random things about me are...
I love all things sparkly and/or pink (diamonds and pink champagne are right up there LOL); My favourite film is called 'The Big Blue'; I ALWAYS wear high heels as I'm only 5'2''; I've never ever had short hair; I love spring flowers and freshly washed/ironed bed linen; I never do my own ironing (I'm 33 and mum does it, how bad is that); I'm always singing (VERY badly) and I HATE HATE HATE melon.

Somthing that people wouldn't know is that I'm very shy; whenever I tell people, they don't beleive me, but I am

Hey Teri, my graduating class had 42 people in it also. My hometown has one stoplight (and one flashing light by the fire station).
Love reading these random facts.
Here's a few other ones about me :
--can't drive stick. My dh's car is standard and my kids laugh because I can't drive it.
--I've bitten a small sliver of my tongue off (twice!?) Both times while playing basketball.
--There are many foods that while I like the taste of them, I won't eat them because I can't stand the texture. (strawberries, cherries etc.)
--I generally read at least 2-3 books a week. Just light stuff (a lot of mysteries); but I like at least having a book available to read whenever I want.

I'm certainly nnot lurking, but thought I'd share a little too!

I've been scrapping since high school. Was the chapter historian in college and created scrapbooks for our house. I have a degree in graphic design and have worked professionally for over 20 years and love that it's brought me to the manufacturing side of the biz!

I've been digital for about 17 months!

random:
• I had about 35 [all girls] in my HS senior class
• I LOVE chocolate
• I don't like scarey movies
• I studied Latin
• prefer diet coke to diet pepsi

Teri... if you're ever think you are missing something by not having a traffic ticket... I have some to share

This is great!
More random stuff about me:

- my nickname at school was froggie - coz I had long legs and big eys!
- I am a John Farnham fan (please tell me you know who he is!!)
- I eat bacon when my tummy is feeling dodgy - it helps!
- I worked on a whale watching boat, and had to take sea-sick tabets each day - so I could satisfactorily mop up all the 'customer' sea-sick delights!
- I never had big hair - but went through the stages of 'bowl' cuts and perms!
- My right eye is quite 'blind' - and therefore I can't judge depth very well - especially when driving - so watch out!

No freakin' way, Natalie!!! Did you go to Pico Rivera Elementary? OMGosh, wouldn't it be hysterical if we were there at the same time? (I think I'm older than you though, I was born in '68.) So cool, I don't know anyone else from the barrio, lol! Gonna have to start calling you hermana.

Default too fun!

ok, first...

kellie and tali - i've heard of both pico rivera and fountain valley - 'cause i live in huntington beach! lol

and susan, i can't imagine where you live in so. cal that you're 20 miles away from a M or J...so you'll have to fill me in! lol

so, me...i too have one of those really creative user names! deann...that's my name! i live in huntington beach, ca (so. cal, oc, but we're not rich nor as hip as those other 'oc' people that are on tv - oh, that's right, they don't really exist!) i am married to patrick for 13 years and have 4 boys - zack (13), max (10), wil (6) and nate (1 1/2) i still can't get over the fact that i own teenager...! (time just flies, doesn't it)

i've been scrappin' for years...and started digi in october of 2005. LOVE IT would be an understatement - but look who i'm talkin' to! (it's a room full of converts! lol)

i can't live w/out coffee...i do think i'm the only person that can drink a venta latte from sb's and fall asleep! (how sad is that...fair to say that raising 4 boys is a bit tiring!)

by now, most that know me know that i've got this strange relationship w/lower case letters... i should explain the whole “upper case letter aversion’ that i have! It’s not that i actually have something against upper case letters, i love a great monogram as much as anyone, it’s just that i have a soft spot for little (lower case) letters. All my life, i was sooo small - think wizard of oz, but a bit bigger, so i was often refereed to as ‘little d’. As i’ve gotten older, i don’t seem so small anymore (i think people must be shrinking) but the little d seemed to have stuck. So there ya have it...odd, but fitting.

well, i think that's about it for right now!

Kellie, I was born in '71 so we had to be there at the same time! My whole family still lives in the barrio so I visit every summer! I went to South Ranchito and Obregon (Elementary), North Park (Middle School) and El Rancho (HS). Whoo-Hoo.. nothing like finding another homegirl from Pico, LOL! What side of the tracks did you live on?

So wild! I moved in fourth grade - so I don't remeber lots of street names. We lived in the houses across from the Ford plant and I was only 2 or 3 blocks from Rivera Elementary. We lived on the corner of Bequette (at least I think that's how you spell it) and Canford. I totally remember taking swim lessons in El Rancho's L-shaped pool. My abuelo still lives in East L.A. - he's 91 and a great great abuelo a couples time over now. What are the odds that we would both be from the same home town?!

And now there's Deann! I spent so many summer days on the HB pier. My sister and I used to take the Euclid bus all the way down to the beach. And I swear we were only like 12 or 13 and we did this by ourselves. Ah, the good ol' days.

Default so calers (nice word LOL)

oh, you two are babies! i was born in '64! can you even image letting your 12 or 13 year old daughter get on that bus today! oh my how things have changed!

i spent many a summer day laying on the beach at the end of lake street - just south of the pier. you would have been what we called inlanders, for sure! (dude! lol)

you both need to come a visit! i don't know when the last time you were back - but boy things have changed! all those little beach cottages are now multi-million $ homes that take up the whole lot and go up 3 stories tall ( i hate them!!)
