Using an abr brush

I know this is probably the dumbest question, but I bought some digital brush files that are abr, not png. I think I have it loaded, I can stamp it in the color and size I want, but when I try to switch from the brush tool to anything else, the brush stamp turns into a wavy, marching ant kind of look. I can not seem to get the brush stamp to stay put. What am I doing wrong? CWeber2002@aol.com

If you're using PSE, you've likely selected the wrong brush tool. Click and hold the icon for the brush tool and you'll see a flyout menu. Be sure to select the "Brush Tool" and not one of the others that share the location.
