Default Shutterfly 50% of 12 by 12 books

Sorry. I'm an old dog that can't learn new tricks. I can't resist 50% off a 12 by 12 book.
I've spent the day with Shutterfly trying to make this new custom path work.
Here are my tips
1) Vivid pics now can be only turned off in the album mode.
Upload your pics to an album. Go to the album. Select all.
Under edit select apply effect. on the left side of the next screen you will see
don't apply automatic corrects and above that put apply this effect to selected pictures. All of them will now not have vivid pics.
2) Then upload them to your photo book. I selected style portfolio. white background. Under layout I selected full bleed (grey screen)
3) The tittle page did not offer a grey full bleed as an option until you pick 'get more layouts' then you can select one photo and full bleed.
Hope this helps someone.

I do like 12 x 12! That's tempting! Thanks for the tips, Doris.

Doris, how does the cover look on preview? Debi mentioned that the cover was off on the preview and it printed wrong, while the "Classic Custom Path" still gives you an acceptable cover. I, too, am going with this deal--I forgot to order it with the coupon I had last week, and this is an even better sale, taking the book down to under $90 with free shipping.

Don't forget to enter SHIP30 to get free shipping with orders over $30.

Thanks for the tips Doris. I haven't done a photo book yet & maybe this will get me motivated to finish up some pages!

My cover colour was off. This is what led to the second phone call. I had not turned off the vivid pics in the album view and you cannot do it in the photo book section any longer. I had to delete the entire book. Go back to the album view and redo edit for no vivid pics etc.
Is that what you mean?

I had heard the new custom path software does not align the covers like the old templates did---meaning, if you use their digital scrapbook template for the cover, it doesn't work like it used to.

I will print this one with their old software, so I've got a little time to worry about it. But thanks for the reminder about the color---I have forgotten in the past to increase saturation 10% on every page so they're not so dark.

I'm not sure about the alignment thingy. I used a template I think it was in one of Katie's photo book sets. It looked fine. Totally crossing my fingers though.

I'm trying to finish December of 2010 in time. Just my boys' bday and Christmas to go. I hope that I can still edit an old album so I can avoid the software though

From what I've heard, it's still very WYSIWYG, so if it looked right on the preview, it should print fine. I'm writing a script right now to break down my 24X12s into 12X12s and bump up the saturation a little bit.

oh I just uploaded some 12 by 24's. This is what I did (It's not very scientific!! LOL) I uploaded the whole 24 by 12. vivid pics off. Added the photos to the pages. Then went shoot I forgot to break it up into 12 by 12. So I rather than breaking them up, reuploading them, vivid pics etc. I just readded the whole album to the photo book. Then added them to the page that the other side was supposed to go to. I double clicked on the left side and moved the whole photo all the way to the left. Then went to the right side and moved it all the way to the left.
It seemed to look ok. LOL. Much easier than redoing it!

Thanks SO much for that extra code! It helped cover our crazy 10% tax here in Louisiana. I wound up paying $84 for a 101-page 12X12 hardcover. That's the best price I've ever had on a book that big.

You know, I "fooled" the system (and I think someone mentioned this---it may have been you, Doris) into letting me use the classic custom path by taking an old book, removing the pages, and dropping my new pages in. I wonder how long that will work? I'm going to go and pick a book, delete the pages and covers, and save it as a blank book to see if it will still work down the road.

Thanks so much Doris, I tried dragging my pages on the plain white background and it kept trying to do funky stuff, then I tried the grey like you said it was perfect!

note to everyone: just follow Doris' recommendations!

Thanks for the info about the title page Doris. Will have a play. I know I couldn't get the spine to work even though I used their template, it wouldn't fit.

As for vivid pics, that's how I've always turned them off since day dot, in the album folder, turned one off then applied the effect to all photos.
