Default Album covers

One thing I've always left till last when I do a project/album and the one thing I absolutely paralyse myself on, is the cover. Is anyone else like that? Or is it just my phobia.

I've seen some terrific covers lately in the gallery, particularly with last year's 365 and December daily wrapping up.

I wonder if any of us have any of our covers in our respective galleries, that we might like to post the thumbnail of it here to share with others all in the one place. It could further inspire us when making the cover of our next album, and besides which it's a lot of eye candy that I love to look at.

Anyone care to share some they might have posted in their gallery?

If you search the gallery for "Cover" in the title you will see a bunch of them - but definitely not all of them, so it would be good to see them here.

I usually LOVE making covers and they are often the very first LO I make when I start a new project!!!
All my covers are in their respective book-folder in my gallery...

But for some reason, I just couldn't come up with an idea for my book on 2010... That's why I happily scraplifted Esther's amazing 2011 Cover!

And for my book on the Med Cruise we took this fall - I still don't have a cover for that one!!! I might just lift another one of Esther's... ;-)

I rarely do the cover for an album until the very end. I sort of have to see where the album has gone in order to know what I want on the cover.

Carol, I am just like you when it comes to covers. They usually end up being very simple because of it. Not that that is a bad thing. I'm always impressed with the "scrapped" covers and would love to see what people have come up with.

I do the cover at the end too. And I share your phobia, Carol! It needs to look nice on the coffee table. That is the first thing ppl will see and decide if they want to pick it up and look at it.

I have only done one book since I usually print and put in an album. But I absolutely stressed over the cover. I am happy with it, but I will definately put the next one off until the last minute again. I do like the search on cover idea, that may help with the creative block.

OK I'm Back. Here is Esther's Camp Cover. Just love it!

which inspired my cover of Ben's 1st year book

my favourite cover page is my December Daily 2010 because ever year I redo it with a new picture of the three kids..so it's the easiest one to make!

can't wait to see more Ideas!

I'm with carol and kelly - I leave it till the end. Sometimes I have even realised I don't have a cover until I'm ordering the photobook :-0

I need to do better on this!!! Would love to see more examples :-)

I put the majority of my layouts in albums... but here is a cover I did for a Persnickety custom post bound album. I always save the cover for last... I just like to get the feel of the pages before I wrap it up

I decided to do another custom post bound album for Project Life. Not sure I will wait the entire year before I do it though... waiting for just the right products to hit me

The cover freezes me in my tracks every time. I've used templates the past three years for my 365. That at least gives me a kick start.

Oh Im with you Carol... I procrastinate all the time.. I ADORE Esthers year book covers, they are amazing, so eye catching... Its usually the very last page I create, I havent posted this years because I 'cased' it from Linda's title page... and I was embarrassed to post it... (there I've told you now) hope you did'nt mind Linda...

I try to get a feel for all of the pages, and the cover draws from that. So I do it last. I've just checked (edited titles) so that all of my covers come up when you search for "cover" in the title and my name.
My usual format is a photo collage that gives a snapshot of the contents:

Other styles include...
Graphic/clean and simple/photoless (ie when I get lazy!):

Memorabilia:

More scrappy with mix of photos, papers and embellishments

or just plain fun (and thanks so much, Doris, for your kind words about that one!):

I usually save the cover for last too! However, with my December Daily and this years 365, I did the covers first to push myself to do the project! My DD was perfect, but I'm gonna have to tweak my 365 since I changed what I was going to do! I'll try to remember to come back later and link them up here!

WOW! These are all amazing! I always print pages, so no covers, but I definitely bookmarked this topic for future reference!

I'm with you. I normally do my covers last and up until my last few books I always just put a layout on the front as my cover. For December Daily this year I made my cover first (using a layer works template)and it was my jumping off point for all of my pages.
