Default Back up Strategies - What do you do?

I'm trying to find a back up plan that I am totally comfortable with. Right now I have an EHD that I have set up to back up new image files to that I Import into Lightroom and I have Carbonite Plus that automatically backs up any new files that I add to either my Main Computer or my EHD. This means, oh God I hope so, that I can delete image files from my Main Computer and they will be kept safe on the EHD and Carbonite for future use.
What do others do? I'd love to hear.

I am in the thinking stage of Carbonite right now . . . haven't decided if I want go that way or not. I actually don't know too much about it. Guess that I should go to some of the threads here that talk about Carbonite. I know that I would be totally scared to death of deleting all of my images from my computer without having them on an ext and at least hard copy on a DVD. I'll check back to see what is said on this thread.

Good luck on making a decision! I'm infamous for being indecisive, myself!

Brenda I f you are using backup software to copy to the EHD I'm not sure that it will stay there if you delete it off the main drive.. if you mean you are running a utility to just copy all photos to the EHD then they should stay there until you delete them..backup software drops older backups as time goes on and usually (depending on your parameters) keeps deleted files for only a certain period of time. Like Donna said check your backup software. I just use sync toy to back up and there are several options. Some mirror what is on your main computer and one never deletes anything. Also it does not create a new backup each time, it adds to it. Just in case I mess up I have it set to never delete.

I have a second EHD for backup. I am thinking of using smugmug for backup and for photo sharing with family.

I got an EHD for Christmas!!! Still waiting for DH to set it up! I have a friend that uses Carbonite, and another that uses Phanfare.
