Default Uploading page into the text area..

Hi all, I think I've asked this question before, but cannot find it in any thread..

Could someone please tell me how to load a page into the text area when uploading into the gallery.. My P365 format is one page multi photos, which I want in the gallery, and the other side is one large fav photo, which I dont want to upload to the gallery, but would like to show it in the text area..

I know that Jana Morton has done it, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me..

When I've done it, I used images I had uploaded to Photobucket. You can create a free account there and upload images.

I do it in Photobucket. Once you upload the spread, you can grab the IMG link and paste it into the description section.

However, DD runs a script automatically every night that removes all the external hyperlinks. So the next morning, the double-page photo will be gone. You can add it back in again, if you want, or leave it.

I did it with my Smithsonian page because the title work went across two pages. I re-pasted the link for a couple of days until the LO was buried deep in the gallery, then I just let it go.

Yes, the script removes hyperlinks, but an image link is different. I wonder, Sarah, whether you've copied the BBcode for the hyperlink rather than just the BBcode for the image. I use flickr for mine and I haven't noticed my images vanishing, here's an example.

Click on your photo, then click "Share" which is just above your photo.
Grab the BBCode, and where it says "Copy and paste the code below:" you have to copy the whole text but when you paste here you ONLY want the bit with the img tags, eg
[ img]http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4019/4345219125_687a100f67.jpg[/img ]
(but I added some spaces so the text displays here)

Thanks for the explanation. I just wondered why my double page spread I uploaded yesterday was deleted. I was afraid it wasn't allowed but now I understand it happens automatically. I will repost it as I don't have a Flickr account.

Esther, I use the image links just like that. They're allowed, but in the interest of keeping DD safe the script runs every night. There is a pattern as to whose links stay and whose get deleted, but I just re-paste mine for a few days. It's no trouble.

This is the code for my Smithsonian page. I took out the left bracket and replaced it with type.

Sorry for the troubles. We have an issue with other Scrapbooking sites (one is more problem than others) that post spam, links, advertising and general crap in old page comments, etc. Wish we didn't have to go through the problem of having to deal with this.

It's no trouble at all---as long as it's not "illegal" for us to post the image in the first place, and then re-post the link a couple of times, knowing it will be removed. I don't mind at all, and since it's an automatic script, I didn't think it would cause any trouble on the administrative end. If it does, I won't do it anymore.

I do that because I always scrap two-page layouts and I could never figure out how to upload so that the left page was on the left and the right, on the right. Embedding is just easier.

No, not illegal at all. The ones that are tend to be caught and manually removed throughout the day.

Janet, I use that method for posting images that are not already posted elsewhere in this gallery.
If the image you want to link to is already in the gallery here, you don't need to use Flickr. You can right click on the image, choose "copy image location" and then in your comment you paste the link between the img BBcodes. It is the same as the BBcode that is generated for you in the forum when you click on the yellow mountain icon. It's just that the gallery description section doesn't have those tools so you have to remember the magic codes!
For an image, type "[ img]" (without the space), paste your link, then type "[ /img]".

BTW "BBcode" stands for "Bulletin Board code". Bulletin Boards are where all this commenting started - before forums and galleries and blogs!
