Do Graphic Designers use digital scrap?

Hello.
I'm a volunteer photographer for our children's grade school. Suddenly, I'm now being asked to design brochures and posters for school events. I enjoy it, but it feels different when I am 'working' for others. Typically, I have spent the last several years winging it. This summer, I taught myself Pages and recently, purchased Elements 10 (the 3rd version I have owned and I still don't know how to import/export, use extra stuff, etc.)

I'm trying to purchase Adobe InDesign but until then, I'll use what I have.

As I look for things to put on or in a brochure, all the good stuff seems to be from digital scrapbooking sites. Where so Gr. Designers get their art? ...because I can't find much that is affordable, colorful, fun.
