Default photo books - Persnickity or Inkubook?

Hi, I'm about to print out my first photo book and am wondering what company to use. I have ordered single pages from Persnickity before and been very happy with the results. I was debating between Persnickity and Inkubook and was wondering if anyone used either company for photo books and how happy they were with the results? Thanks for any input.

I have done quite of bit of investigating on this subject and I think you will find that Blurb and Shutterfly or the most recommended placed to have photobooks printed. I hope that helps.

Default Shutterfly for photo books?

Hi thanks for the response - I thought I couldn't make my own photo books with Shutterfly anymore is that correct? When I looked at the site I only saw custom path and simple path books. I didn't see any options for a blank book I could fill with my own pages. However I will take a look at blurb. Thanks

I just ordered a large square book from Inkubook and I am very pleased with the results. The colors/quality of printing are as good, if not better, than Shutterfly. The binding is better (my SF books are notoriously poorly glued at the spine), and the online creation of the book is FAR simpler than SF. They're cheaper, too. I recommend that anyone give them a try.

Cassie, thanks for sharing the Inkubook info. I will soon prepare my 2011 weekly pages for print and have not decided on a printer yet other than to NOT use Shutterfly. I will for sure look into Inkubook along with Blurb and Persnickety. I was extremely happy with an 8.5 x 11 photo book I did with MyPublisher but I don't think they offer 12x12.

I just got two from shutterfly for Christmas presents (one 8x8 and one 12x12) but they were books that I uploaded awhile back so not sure about the blank book option. I got one from blurb also because they allow more pages. It was a 7x7 and I love the way it came out. Definitely will check out Inkubook info.

I also have gotten landscape book and calendar in the past from mypublisher, but they do not offer square books at this time. I am hoping that they will offer them in the future since they now offer square single page prints (the single print price is expensive).

Good to know about Inkubook, will put on my list of companies to possibly try.

Just checked out Inkubook and see they have an 11x11, that could be a nice size. And the printing costs seem quite reasonable. But ouch! Just checked out the overseas shipping costs. The cheapest is $30.99 for shipping. Backing away very quickly! LOL

Will stick with Blurb if I can't use Shutterfly.

I don't think Persnickety is an option for us in Australia as they will only post single pages, not whole books.
Inkubook looks interesting. Even with the outrageous FedEx postage cost the books are cheaper than similar options (and much cheaper if you want lots of pages).
Does Inkubook have groupons or regular sale deals?

This is always such a helpful thread. I have gone rounds and rounds with what to do and this all gives me great ideas. I haven't printed a book yet with any of these companies. I have printed about five books and love them, but they were pretty expensive. I will try Inkubook, but by the time I get the book made I will forget the name so be prepared for me to be asking this again after our vacaton in February I can write the name down and put it in a safe place, but I will lose it, because it will be so safe

heheehe - you crack me up!!! I have only printed Shutterfly books so far. And only individual pages from anywhere else.

Well, Well, Well ... I just received a $50 gift certificate to Shutterfly so I guess I'll go ahead and use them for my 2011 book even though I said I would NOT use them :-) Might as well take advantage of the $50 gift ... just hope the colors turn are better than the last time and I so dread the hassle of the covers/spine.

About the sales for Inkubook - they frequently run 20-30% off sales and every so often ( a few times a year) will run a buy one get one free sale. You do not have to print 2 of the same book, but the less expensive book will be the free one. I have been happy with the inkubook books. The 11x11 size feels very nice to me. The only "complaint" I have is that the gutter is very noticeable and stiff - make sure you keep important details away from that edge.

A note about shutterfly also - I needed to print a giftbook by them and couldn't figure out their new "paths" so I took an old book I had made, duplicated it and erased the files out of it - then I just filled it up with my new pages. That seemed to be a good work around for me so that I didn't have to figure out their new system.
