You want "extra large icons"
There's also a pulldown on the top right of the window that includes all of the icon (thumbnail) sizes and a slider to help you choose.

Sorry Esther a Don't know where you are. Is the place on the right in the main bar that has the picture of the house/dropdown arrow/ envelope/printer/page/safety/tools.
Don't see the icons anywhere. They are suppose to be on the left side with File Edit View Favorites Tools and help. In the properties it says if you change icon you will lose the preview |

You were right to go to the the view on the top left of my screen between edit and favorites.
In the View menu it has "extra large icons". Please ignore the other suggestion I made about using the pull-down on the right. We must have different toolbars turned on. I don't have a picture of the house/dropdown arrow/ envelope/printer/page/safety/tools. Sorry!

ok now that we are in the right spot, my view says nothing about extra large icons Lizj said to make sure the folder is open. I open the folder and then shrink my page so I can get the bar at the top. My folder is on my desktop, so there is no bar, I have to open something to get the bar. So the folder is on the side of what is open, is that the problem maybe. That the folder is on the desktop?

In Windows 7 it is "extra large icons" in the View menu.
Once you open your folder to view the things inside it you should see the View menu at the top of the folder window. You can also right-click when you are inside your folder and you can choose View -> Extra large icons from the menu that appears.

Make sure you unzipped your kit into an ordinary folder.
It should look like this:

Lizj and Esther_a Fa La La La La Merry Christmas I have Previews! Thanks for not giving up on me. I went to Green Bay today to shop and on the way down I worked on the computer and got it in two seconds. No, I was not driving. Ye ahhh that makes such a difference, you can not imagine how different it is to see the preview. I owe you big time, all the people that help on here THANKS for sharing your expertise with us oh so helpless people.

I am relieved! I wonder why it wasn't working for you before!

Oh, that's wonderful! I totally understand, it is so much better when you can see the previews on the folder, what a difference that makes. I'm so glad for you that it works now!
You'll probably still want to go ahead with ACDSee, which will give you the ability to tag things that are not in the same folder, but are similar categories. I won't be able to help with that though, as I too am just learning ACDSee.
