Default Creating a Photo Slideshow

Hello,
I am working on a Slideshow of my family history and I am worndering if anyone has advice for software to use. I have Adobe Premire Elements, but I find that it is not super user friendly and takes forever to burn to a disk. I also don't know how to add interesting things like swirls. Have any of you used different software with success?

Thank you,
Amie

I use Windows Movie Maker... it is a breeze to use and it came with my Windows 7.

I just left mine as individual jpgs and had them run through on my TV as a slideshow - it has that option. So if you're short of time this is a way to keep it quick and simple.

Animoto. Wonderful online program. I think it is $30/per year. Well worth it!

I presume you're on a PC??? If a Mac, you can do it with iDVD from your photos in iPhoto.
