Anyone doing this? I read old posts here about such topic but just wondered if there were any new comments. To me it looks amazing but scary since i don't consider myself that computer savy. And before i invest in Lightroom just thought i would ask. Retaining the metadata is what is interesting i think so you always have that info. But i am not sure about not having png's any more. Does that mean i can't do hybrid stuff? That question probably shows my lack of knowledge. I should add it is by Kayla Lamoreaux.

I have that class but needed to finish Jana Morton's Blending class first.
I haven't downloaded a trial version of Lightroom until I am ready to start the class so I can't give you any advice there. Also, since I only shoot with an iPhone4, I'm really not interested in doing any work on my photos. That's not my interest. Since the new ACDSee for Mac App came out I'm really inclined to go in that direction since it's soooo easy to search without any tagging. That would mean that my tagging could be limited to the words/things that are not included in a product name. eta: btw, while I do consider myself pretty computer savy, for me, it's still finding a program that is intuitive for me. Right now that ACDSee APP certainly works perfectly with my way of thinking or even better not having to think. I would def do a download of a program like Lightroom before buying it. hth!

Thanks so much. Her class specifically is for organizing digital supplies not necessarily photos and i think the advantage is ACD doesn't include metadata so info can be lost in a crash i think. Anyway. I am not ready to buy Lightroom. Maybe down the road. Right now i just have my previews organized by designers.

I think I'm doing it (organizing supplies in Lightroom) after Christmas and the kiddos are back in school. I'm in Kayla's Finding Photo Flow and loving it. I am very happy with my Lightroom purchase (bought it about 2 months ago) and I'm learing sooooooo much about the program in her class.
![]() I like ACDSee and always backup and embed my data but after seeing how Lightroom handles keywording, collections, smart collections, etc, etc........I think I am going for it! Leslie |

upon further review I am just going to tag the previews. Google the phrase "tag scrapbook previews in lightroom" and you will get some sources that help. I am familiar with the program from Kayla's class and feel fairly confident I can do it. I've already made up a Scrapbook Supplies catalog that I've imported a few things into just to play around. When I get started I plan to delete my "play" catalog and put the supplies in the same catalog with my photos. They will still all reside in their usual folder structure on my harddrive (I'm not moving my files around) and the LR catalog will then contain all the photos from my main photo folder (and subfolders) and only the previews from the Scrapbook folders. I think I will do Lightroom imports one designer folder at a time and only pull in the previews upon import.
