Default Just had ACDSee epiphany-smacks forehead! (using the image basket tip)

I had 9 photos I wanted to scrap on a double layout. I use ACDSee heavily as a file browser and drag my images from ACDSee to PSE and CS (just got CS in the past month). I started browsing my template categories and tried to keep in mind the orientation of my photos and which ones I would like to be bigger and more spotlighted. It was driving me crazy when a lightbulb went off in my head! I put my 9 photos in the image basket and then I could look at templates in the top half of the browsing screen while comparing them with the photos in the image basket on bottom half of the screen. Easy peasy! My layout went together quickly after that.

Frequently I see digital elements I like and then forget which kit they were in. I think I will drag them to the image basket too so they will be saved. I get inspiration from many sources---sometimes I start with templates, other times it is an element or photos that get me going.

I don't spend a lot of time tagging in ACDSee. Everything is in file folders by designer or class. I tag previews. I also tag templates by # of pictures they are set up for and I also have a category tag for double templates since I have lots of photos.

I thought I'd share my latest bright idea!

Leslie

Leslie, glad this one got bumped up. I forgot to ask you where you find Image Basket in ACDsee or do you mean it's something in CS?

I'm in the Windows version, Photo Manager 12, and you can turn on the image basket under views.

Default Love that image basket

Took me a while to figure out the image basket, too. But it's great! And you can bring them into PSE right from the image basket (at first I was going back to the file).

Not seeing this in the Mac ACDSeeApp nor in the ACDSee Pro. Why DO they do such things...

That stinks! I use ACDSee as my file browser every time I scrap. I also use it to call up pdfs of classes, etc.

Mac users--can you create a contact sheet of selected photos and print it out on regular old paper.............no need to make it nice and purty........just to get an idea of what your template photo orientations need to be? Leslie

Thanks for your suggestion Leslie. I usually just have a folder of the images on my desktop and can easily look at them by going back and forth. That works!
