Default Thanks for the Lightroom recommendation!

I posted a week or so earlier asking about opinions for the new Radlab. I still think Radlab looks cool, but several of you mentioned I should consider checking out Lightroom and the presets (many free) available.

I started doing the research and ohmygosh! I bought Lightroom last week (using educational discount ) , got the Kelby book and have already downloaded and installed some free presets. Easy peasy! I've been able to do several corrections to my photos quickly just by playing around. I love the synch function where you make corrections to one photo then automatically apply it to other photos in the batch you select. I love instantly seeing a preview of what the preset/editing changes do to the photos. Imagine what I can do after I work my way through the Kelby book.

I may sign up for Kayla Lamoreaux's photo organization class the next time it is offered. Has anyone taken it? My photos are all organized by date shot but I'm sure she has some great ideas for getting metadata, keywording, etc into the photos. Plus I read a bunch of her lightroom class tutorials and learned so much I should support her site ( ........not planning to organize my supplies in LR as she did though.......not at this time)

Thanks for causing me to take a serious look at Lightroom.

Congrats! I know you will love Lightroom. I haven't taken any organization classes on LR, but I read Kelby's book, and he has some great advice. Both on metadata organization, keywords and other stuff. Be sure to check out his advice on creating droplets while you're at it.

Congrats on your new toy! I'm hoping to take Kayla's class the next time around myself. Try looking through her posts for her free LR class from this last Spring. She had a photo module with LOTS of great info!

I just signed up for Kayla's class. I was on her email notification list and she opened it up today for registration.

I found a coupon code for Lynda.com annual membership$50 off an annual membership.......I plan to learn CS3 (my son bought it years ago, he doesn't use it so I might as well), Lightroom and watch her photography tutorials.

Lynda.com Discount Codes (4 available / $66 avg savings) - Coupon Chief
I think I am passing on PSE 10 and the new ACDSee 14 (didn't see anything new I needed in this software). Been spending too much $$$ on education!
