Default Brand Newbie Question

I am brand new to the digi scrapping world...just started a couple of weeks ago. I have a beginner question about the kits for sale on this site. While the embellishments indicate that they are individual png files or stamps and brushes, etc., I am unsure about the kits. The product list says what is included, but I do not know if the items, other than the papers, are individual files. In other words, are the embellishments individual files that I can use "as is" and not things that I have to extract? Hope I am making sense as I am still unfamiliar with the correct terminology, etc. The kits are beautiful here! Thanks for bearing with me.

Welcome to DD! Yes the elements in a kit are individual pngs-no extractions necessary

Thanks so much for your quick replies. I was hoping that was the answer! So many beautiful things that are exactly my taste here. I am a long time traditional scrapper and while reluctant at first, I am absolutely loving the digi world.

Welcome to DD -- you will love it here. I was also a paper scrapper until just over 3 years ago.

Yep, I'm another former paper scapper who has "seen the light" although many refer to digiscrapping, as Heather said, as "The Dark Side"! It didn't take me long to convert, though, only about twenty minutes. I have a paper album that is 2/3 finished---I haven't touched it since the day I first saw Photoshop Elements.

Have fun!

Oh, I remember how I looked at digi as some kind of "cheat" scrapbooking...

Then I discovered how neat my desk looked after an hour of digi scrapping. And how many pages I got done compared to the paper stuff. And how I can reuse my supplies. And tweak them. And have beautiful type on my pages, since my handwriting looks like crap. And buy digital supplies online, anytime!

Yup, digi is the way to go..

WELCOME!! Yes...former paper scrapper here too....I should really start thinking about selling or giving away all my paper stuff....don't think I will be using it. And you will LOVE the kits! Or pretty much anything else you get here....and the inspiration from the "artists" who post their pages...I find myself saying...wow...I wouldn't have thought I could do that...again WELCOME!!

I'm another former paper scrapper...switched to digi 'by accident' when I stumbled across some online classes in Photoshop and got hooked before I could turn back! Welcome to DD, it's a wonderful community.

Welcome to DD and welcome to digi scrapping! I'm also a convert from paper - and for about a gazillion reasons I love digi more. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to ease your transition

Well, your question was answered already, but I too just wanted to say hi and welcome! I think we all remember when we first started digi scrapping, so any more questions just go ahead and ask, we are here to help

Thank you so much everyone. I can relate to everything all of you said...the feeling that I'm "cheating"' the lack of mess, the amount of pages that can get done. The dark side...haaa, I love it! I too have a few "almost finished" paper albums, but I think I may finish them up with digital or hybrid pages, a true transition, that's for sure. I keep saying I can't give up traditional scrapping, but I can see that coming faster and faster...and faster. I don't even want to think of the amount of paper stuff I have sitting here waiting to be used, but this digital thing is positively addicting!

Welcome! I never did paper scrapping so I've always done digi. When I started PSE4 was the only thing available for Mac tho I DID have the whole Adobe InDesign package which totally threw me for a loop! I had tears of frustration because while I got layers, I could not figure out how to make my fingers and keyboards do anything right. As everyone says, ask, ask, ask. You'll soon be having a blast! and never wonder how you thought it was cheating! You ARE creating!

I still have a whole room full of paper stuff, the kits I used to get every month.. oh my goodness! I keep thinking that some day I will maybe use it, but it's just collecting dust I need to just get it all together and get rid of it.... cutting stuff just lost it's appeal really fast once I figured out how to do it the easy way LOL!

I used to think it might be cheating, but then I realized that it is only cheating if you believe the objective of scrapbooking is to take a long time and spend a lot of money!! If the objective of scrapbooking is preserve the photos and tell the stories then it is certainly NOT cheating! It is practical and sensible and achievable.

Paper or digi, it's all art and it's all preserving your memories. Digi is just something I enjoy over every other craft I've tried. I'm preserving memories and loving it. There's no cheating in that.

As a former paper scrapper of 30 years, I can say that digi is the way to go. No more messy tabletops and I have done twice as many pages in digital in half the time as paper!!

Welcome to DD...this IS the best site around!!
