make sure your cursor at the end of the text looks like a line and then draw it over the text. Or you can double click on your text layer in your layers palette, that should highlight the whole thing...

I would do what Sharon suggested plus Make Sure to SAVE, then turn off your program and your computer. If you've been hours on it, you may have jammed your cache which can make a program go wonky. Trust me, the old restart can do wonders!

Yes, I have had this exact problem and it is when I have rasterized the text. I never mean to do that but I must hit some "magic" keys and volia! Ugh!!!
