Default Getting Acdsee

In case anyone is interested and has not seen the sale, ACDSEE is having a summer sale and the "download only" version of Acdsee 12 is only $29.99. I had briefly used the trial version but once finding my item in acdsee, I didn't know how to open directly in photoshop, but I saw a thread long ago saying it could be done. Unfortunately, I cannot find that thread. Can anyone point me in the right direction???

That price does make it tempting. My current filing system is getting out of control. It's too easy to forget what I have tucked away. I just worry about the time commitment to the learning curve. Know of any good tutorials?

There are so many different methods of organizing and tagging. I was just simply tagging the preview of each kit because when I had tried to tag every item in bridge, it would continually crash. I was just hearing so many people talking about how much they love acdsee that I figured it might get things in better control, but I haven't determined just how to attack things as yet.

I think I will start by culling most, if not all of my non-dd items, as I really never use the stuff. Where I go from there I don't know.

I right click the item and choose "open in photoshop". I'm on a mac, but you can also set the preferences. Try tools-options, or something like that, I think there is an option to choose to open in PS if you double click it, instead of maximizing.

It's been a while since I got ACDsee and I'm not at a computer with it installed but I think you look around in the settings for "Default Editor". You want to make Adobe Photoshop your default editor. Once you manage that you hit Crt-alt-x when you have any file open in ACDsee and it will open up Photoshop and/or add the item to Photoshop Editor.
Hope this helps!
That's a great deal on ACDsee. I would recommend taking the course at Jessica Spraque's site on using ACDsee if you really want to understand how to use it. It can be a bit confusing if you don't know all the ins and outs.

Thanks anxela and Bschori. I think I am spending the weekend tagging supplies. What fun - but in the end it will be worth it.

The folks at Welcome to DigiScrapInfo! have dedicated almost their entire website to all things ACDSee. They have some great tutorials and articles.

Watch a movie, listen to a audio book or music... it will be done before you know it. I honestly don't know what I would do without my supplies tagged!

Thanks for the heads up, Joanie! I have been waffling about getting ACDsee for a while. Just clicked send, after adding a back up disk for $13.99 extra. Still cheaper than the original price! Thanks again.

Your welcome Susan - this way we save a little money we can spend on new dd supplies. You are right Jen - time for a movie while I tag - great idea.

When I use ACDSee, I too just drag from there down into the PSE icon on my dock - on a Mac.
