Default Resize for Gallery??

Hello ladies,

Ok, so I've been uploading my pages for quite some time.. BUT I am noticing that they are not as crisp in the gallery as they are in Photoshop - am I doing something wrong?

I save my image to 72 ppi and then just save as jpg.. does that sound right??

Thanks!!
Kristen

I save my jpeg at 300 dpi and run the unsharp mask on it.

I go to file - save for web - change the image size to 700-800 px and click save, that's it. You could run the unsharp mask, I never do....

I use Photoshop Elements and here's what I do:

Layer -> Flatten Image

Image ->Resize Image

Then in the Image Size Dialogue box:
-Resolution: 72 pixels/inch
-Width and height 700 pixels (perfect size for Designer Digitals)
-check Resample image: then choose Bicubic Sharper fromthe drop down

I do the same as Linda does. I use Photoshop Elements. For uploading to the gallery, I re-size a copy of my jpeg layout to 700 x 700 pixels and keep the resolution at 300 dpi. I run the unsharp mask and save again. Now, I have 3 copies of my layout: the full layered PSD file, a full size jpeg and a 700 x 700 jpeg for the gallery.

What settings do you use in PSE when you run the unsharp mask please?

I'm using 100 / 1.0 / 0 right now. I lost my original settings a while ago and just played around with it until it looked right. I think Cassie had given some settings for sharpening at one time.

Thanks Linda. I'll test that out cause when I just moved the sliders a bit it looked awful!

Such a wonderful question....I have been thinking that mine have looked a little fuzzy too...I will try the unsharp mask.

I think Cassie shared with us 45, 1.0, 6 is that right? That's what I'm using right now.

I used to sharpen all mine to Scott Kelby's recommendation which is 85/1/4, I believe, but it's all a matter of choice! My monitor is not as sharp as others so my adjustments may be extreme to others depending on the resolution of their monitors.
