Question ACDSee for Mac - to buy or not to buy?

So, a question for the mac users here - are you using ACDSee? And are you liking it? I was an ACDSee addict when I was on a PC, but haven't purchased the mac version yet, as I had trouble with the beta version crashing on me.

And are there any coupons or offers on it now?

They did have a coupon at one time for 15% off....don't know about now.

I love it. It works best with plenty of ram... naturally.
It is quick and sweet. Dependent on tagging of course for it's maximum benefit but it can also search file names VERY quickly.

I use it alot.

I have 8gb of ram but still had trouble with the ACDSee beta version. I use Bridge which works well for me, but I read that others have had problems with Bridge, possibly older versions.

I have not done the major tagging that it involves, just some of it. If I had not won it, I don't know if I would spend the amount of money it costs.

If you are already familiar with it, you may want to test the Mac version. I'm not sure they do a trial though. I found that the class I took on the program was the worst on line class I have ever taken. I think I am stumped with it at this point because I'm sure it can do many more things than I do but I don't know how. Back when I received it there was very little help on the website. I haven't gone there recently but will try it again because there was an upgrade today.

I haven't had trouble with it crashing, but I usually look for the supplies in ACDSee, and then after they are opened in PSE, I turn it off. I do like how quickly it shuts down, unlike my PSE which doesn't seem to want to let go.

I am still on the fence with it but glad I have it to whine about!

eta: I think there is a market for a really good Mac ACDSee class taught by a teacher who is Mac proficient. In my class there was constant 'it should be similar on the Mac version' and it wasn't.

The beta version and the final version are vastly different.
It is pricey but I like the speed.

Heidi, you CAN try the 30day Mac version, and there is a reduction of about $70 for prior ACDSee owners.

I did buy it, but haven't finished the tagging yet (yikes, I'm not even close to it) But I do like it, of course it all depends on how you tag stuff and that might take some getting used to. But since you were an addict, you already know that The program runs very well, I have had no problem whatsoever!
