Hi, I'm completely new to digi SB, having made the switch in Dec last year but only learnt how to use Photoshop (CS4) recently to fully be able to play with page templates, brushes etc. Previously used Pages to create my LOs.
Anyway, while writing on my blog, I wanted to give credits to the designers that I've used in a LO and I had a problem. I couldn't remember and apart from tediously searching in iPhoto, does Photoshop give you an option of letting you know the designer that created the items e.g if you hover your cursor over a layer, does any info come out with designer's name or item's name? How do you keep track of what items and whose items that you used in a LO? Hope I'm making sense. Thanks. |

Whilst I still have my original element files open I copy the file name (from the top of the History tab) and paste it as the name of the corresponding layer in my page. Photoshop Elements names the layers automatically as they are dragged from the bin. Wish CS did the same!

I have an action which is a credit supply tracker which works great. I have it set up so that when I press my F5 key on my keyboard it opens the item I am looking at and puts it in my psd file and puts the name on the layer. The when I'm done my LO I run the supply tracker and it takes all of the layer names and puts them in the file info area. I have to delete the duplicates, but it saves me a lot of time.

Thanks for the info.
The Credit supply tacker sounds great. How did you get that or where? I think I might have to rename my layer with the designer's name for the time being until I can find a better solution. Problem is I use supplies from a wide range of designers! |

I open a word doc and copy and paste the name of each item after I pull it over into photoshop then I have a complete list when I am done so that I can copy and paste whereever I want. That also allows me to go back and see at a glance what I have used for various pages. Although I will say my word doc is several pages long!

Katlheen - is your action (the credit supply one) one that you made or bought? Could it possibly be run in PSE? I love how PSE names layers if you drag up (I only have to manually rename if I drag the individual layers over to my layout (where otherwise they would get smushed down!) That action would be so handy to have it PSE!

I have a Supply Tracker action for PSE that is free from the designer. If you google "supply tracker scripts" it will come up. I find it a godsend for adding credits. Brushes are a pain since they don't come up except with generic names. I also have to remember to add the Template name if I'm starting that way which I usually am.

I also love the File Save 1 and File Save 2 for single page layouts and double. PSE AND CS2 and above. Ck for the free downloadable scripts and you'll see the who kit and caboodle.
