That sounds exactly right. Do your page at 12X10, then make a new document and stick it on there. Flatten it (or save as JPEG) and you'll have the white border along the bottom where your page ends. When you have it printed, you just cut off the white border. But you have to make sure you upload them as 12X12s. I've made that mistake at the photo printing kiosks before. They try to think too hard for you!
That said, I've never heard of a 12X10! Who is the manufacturer? Just curious . . .
