Default When tagging Patterned Paper ...

I have an organization question for you smart ladies, I am just starting to tag my supplies (in iPhoto) and I love bold, graphic patterned paper. How do you tag papers that may not have one primary colour, like this kit for example: Mindy's Spring Garden Mini Kit - Digital Scrapbooking Kits DesignerDigitals What colour would you tag the middle paper with? One colour? All? A term like "multi-coloured"?

Thanks in advance!

I just have one tag for all my paper. I tried tagging patterned paper and solid paper, and then I tried breaking them down by primary color within those groups, and I got frustrated precisely because there are so many papers that don't have a dominant color.

Then I got to thinking, it didn't really matter because I can (and do) recolor just about anything I want to. Some things don't recolor well, but by this point I really know most of my stash anyway, and it doesn't take long to scroll through everything if I need to.

But that's just my opinion!

For pattern paper I put it in groups like stripes, polka dots, floral, hearts... etc. Then I can zip through the category for the color I like. If there is a main dominate color then it would go in floral and pink for example

I like to mix and match so I have all my paper together too - although I am thinking of creating a sub folder for just solids.

Ahhhh very interesting. Thanks so much for sharing, I see the perfect system I am looking for does not exist and it would just be easier to sort by patterned and solids. And that I really have to crack open Cassie's tutorial on re-colouring that I bought LAST sale and make good use of it. Thanks so much!

I use to tag everything by color/floral/striped/polka/neutral.....but seeing that I ended up with too much, and recolor most everything I do, I now organize by just paper, or kit or alpha, etc.

I tag all the dominant colors that are in a paper in addition to stripes, dots, solids, etc. This way I can search for any striped paper that has blue and green in it. I even broke down my solids by type: kraft, cardstock, linen, etc. But that's the obssessive compulsive and anal-retentive part of me coming through.

I tag by color and also have categories for polka dots, strips, florals, etc. And I do have a multi-colored category for those papers that don't seem to fit into the other categories.

Mine is very similar to what Linda uses - either primary color or if there isn't one stripe/floral/dots/plaid and even a generic "multi" for papers that don't fit any of those! For solid papers I use "solid" and the color and then I have a smart album to select out all the solid papers and another smart album to get my patterned paper that is basically everything tagged paper but NOT solid. Even as I write this, I realize how complicated it sounds but it works for me!

I use multiple tags for the main colours that are in the patterned paper.
