Default Documenting a decade...

I have hit a wall... a wall of PHOTOS that is. The first years I was scrabbling to find decent photos to use. Now that I hit 2004 and my middle daughter was born it is an EXPlOSION of photos. I know this is just going to get to be a bigger problem as the years chug on because I took more photos with each passing day.

My question is this... do you think it is okay that I only have 2 page spreads for years 2000-2003 and then jump to 4 pages? I don't think I have a choice because I am going to feel like I am leaving so much out.

When I started this project I told myself there wasn't going to be a way to include all my favorite photos... it isn't like these photos aren't in other albums... because everything is represented in my yearly family albums or the kids albums. Do I need to keep telling myself this or do you think I should jump to more pages.

HELP!!!!!!!!

There are no rules. I think it would be just fine to jump to 4 pages when your family started getting bigger.

Edited to add: Terry and I were typing at the same time...so see...there really are no rules!

I would do whatever feels right - let yourself go outside the "box" of two pages if that is what feels right. You will never regret what you put in, just what you leave out! I would even say it is ok to go to 6 pages ... or 8 ... or 10 ....... however many you need to tell the story of the year. Just don't overthink it, and don't overwhelm yourself with rules.

Just my two cents!

Katie

GO FOR IT! You can make this project whatever you want! Remember... you had TWO children starting in 2004! More ppl to love means more photos and in your case, more pages too!

Oh definitely more pages. I think even katie said that a spread isn't enough for a decade You will be so happy with it at the end!

I'm so with you, Jen. I had already decided I would probably have to expand the number of pages per year once I got to 2003 when Katie came along. As you say, a veritable photo explosion!

Go for it Jen! I just started and I have found a sum total of 2, yes two photos for 2001!! I'm horrified! No engagement photos, nothing. What was wrong with me??!!

Oh go for it ! I totally understand your dilemma and was wondering the same because for some years I have just a few but in 2005, pictures just explode ! I'm still scanning the years before ! No rules, I will add pages too if need be ! Can't wait to see more of your album, it's fantastic so far !

You are all *slowly* pulling me over to the dark side.... I wasn't going to tackle this project, what with being behind on 3 baby books and life in general. But, most of my pictures are digital from those years, so going through them would be the hardest part. HMMMMM, you've got me thinking...

Too funny Jen. I don't think the scrap police will fine you if you do each year just as you want!! Some years just have more life events or noteworthy things in them.

I think I understand, Jen! In 2000, I didn't have a digital camera yet. Once I went digital in about 2004 the number of photos I took increased. Another factor is that I think it is only natural that we find the more recent years easier to scrap. I agree with those that say there are no rules for this project!

I'm just hoping I can remember what happened in which year ... and those early digital photos are a mess for me as DH was in charge of downloading them etc at first. :-0

Okay... I got through 2004! YAY! Now 2005 is mostly digital but I still had my film camera. Except for the fall/winter of 2007 (which I lost all my digital files) I should be done scanning! YIPPEE!!! I really want to get this project done... can you tell
