Default I've lost it!

My mojo, that is (if I ever had any). You would think that hitting the Creative status around here would have some influence on my scrapping. Haven't seen it yet.

Any advice? The sad part is that I don't even want to think about opening PS! I feel completely uninspired! What's wrong with me?

Heidi, this happens to me about every six months or so. The thought of even putting a picture on a blank background bores me, and intimidates me at the same time. I usually spend those couple of weeks browsing through the gallery and finding new ideas, or organizing another project. My mojo always comes back, but I have always been a scrapper in spurts. I'm not slow and steady, I'm bunched up and frenzied.

This is so interesting Heidi considering the amount of mojo you give me! You have always been so inspiring with your pages and with your friendliness at DD!!! It seems that I have loads of mojo when I don't have the time to scrap. I sometimes loose a little when I have a designated time for scrapping. Try some reverse psychology and tell yourself that you are not allowed to scrap for a week. Before you know it that mojo will creep up on you and you'll have to get started on a page! I truly believe your mojo will return soon and you will continue to inspire us!!!

You're such an inspiration, you have to get your mojo back! How about if you forget about scrapbooking and just concentrate on browsing through your photos and marking those that you really really like, the ones with a story behind them just begging to be told. And don't even think about scrapping them. But maybe you could jot down that story, and mull it over, refine it, then put it in the drawer. Or if you don't have any photos that grab you, you could concentrate on just taking some new photos. No pressure, just get out there and snap what you like, when you like! Hopefully before you know it, you'll be itching to scrap your precious photos and stories!

You're probably writing this after you've already put off scrapping to clean your desk space, drawers, book shelf, etc. But in case you haven't, go do one or more of those things. Pretty soon you'll figure out that ANYTHING is better than cleaning/organizing! LOL And BTW, I'm with the others. I have lifted more of your pages than I care to count.

Another suggestion: Go start a knitting project. Learn to knit if you don't already...it's a wonderful, soothing, creative filler for non-digi-days.

Wow, thank you girls... So nice of you to back me up now that I'm feeling a little down about my scrapping...
You put a huge smile on my face. And thanks for the input on how to get my mojo back!
I put up a P365 page, which was kind of an effort. (P365 doesn't count as scrapping these days - everything is "done" design-wise.)
I wonder if those pages have something to do with it, though. Being a "must do" scrapbooking kind of chore that I'm not used to doing.

Now I'm going to follow your excellent advice and fold some laundry. Or something.

Vigdis - that sounds awful! I hope it'll come back soon...

I have to admit I'm with you there! I start these projects too and before long they become a chore - for me even just taking a single photo, just because I know it's a rule. I think it's my rebellious side, if something feels like a rule or a routine then I just don't like it. I only got to about day 8 of my December daily album before other photos, lovely sunny, holiday photos, were calling me!

I was just thinking the same thing I guess there are moments like that. When that happens I look at the new stuff and use that as a challenge to create something. It's hard to come up with something new all the time isn't it? I know you can do it! I agree about the 365 pages, to me they don't count as pages anymore either. Too funny...

I'm with Doris, Heidi... Look through your templates! Or look at the challenges on the blog and find something to start you!

I've been feeling the same way about my scrapping lately... kind of down about it... feel like my mojo has been missing for a month or so! Am I doing anything good? Or is it all just boring.... Can't imagine you feeling the same way though! You always have such gorgeous photos to start with and your pages just light up the gallery!

Good luck getting it back! Just try to take on a challenge or begin with a template!

... or lift one of your pages, or lift someone else, or try out a new technique/tutorial just for fun...
I frequently suffer from scrappers' paralysis, and then the inspiration just comes from nowhere. I wish it was something that we could control!

I loose it all the time. Have a break, do something different and it will come back.
I felt the same way about my 365 last year by the end, bit of a chore, not really scrapping, but I loved that I did it and cant wait for my book to arrive. I haven't felt that way yet this year because I am having to create the pages still because I dont have a stock of them yet to mix around, but in about March or April I'll feel that way again I'm sure.

I've had my share of "losing it," too. Not to worry. I've decided that it's just a way for us to recharge. (Doesn't mean we have to like it though.)

It will come back Heidi. Give yourself time and find other fun things to do. Whatever seems enjoyable Just Do It. Does Creative Status feel like an obligation? I guess somethings have their own season, so just wait for your spring to come back and let go of any expectations you might be putting on yourself. Hugs!

Oh yeah - that's the same for all of us. Mojo comes and goes.

For me, if it is "chore scrapping" then I lose mojo faster than I can say.... "mojo". That's why I don't think I can ever do 365 or any other similar project.

This is why I always have a multitude of projects going at the same time!
I can only do so many pages from a specific trip or project before my mojo decides to go elsewhere...
So instead of forcing myself to finish something that I really don't have any inspiration for at the moment - I go where my mojo takes me!!!
Right now I'm working on yearbooks on the years 2006 through 2010, five separate books on 5 different trips, two books on two different digi-scrapping conventions and two books on two different weddings...
I also find that if I'm working on a project that I've decided to keep a certain theme to - like my Rhodes book, where I use the same series of templates and the same papers throughout - I work a lot faster and really don't need that much mojo.
I used my mojo when deciding the outline of the project, and then it just runs along...
