Default If I spent as much time scrapbooking as I do reading blogs.........

I'd get a LOT more done. Google Reader is a blessing and a curse! I have so many scrapbook blogs and gallery feeds set up in Reader.......too many, really. I do not have the ability to just "mark them read" without actually reading the blogs. It's my achilles heel. I think I am going to get really serious over the next week and only leave the blogs in Reader that really make me smile/ are my definite style/ teach me things. I'm going to put the other blogs back in my bookmarks so I don't lose them. I'm going to put as many blogs as I can as Facebook "likes". At least then I will usually get notices of big news. Don't worry, Designer Digitals and their team/designer blogs will make the cut of blogs I read. I've just added so many over the years and my list is really bloated. For example, last week I added Tim Holtz. He's great, but I never in a million years will take the time or money to make his things. So he's going back into bookmarks and facebook feed blips, but out of the blog reader.

Forums are great, blogs are great but I have to keep from getting sucked into the black hole of internet time wasting! Anybody else?

LOL! I kind of figured you'd say that, Donna

I really try to limit my time reading blogs. I don't use Google Reader (though I have set it up), but I have Speed Dial (add-on for Firefox) set up with some of my favorite blogs, and the thumbnail gets reloaded every 5 hours or so. That way I know when my need-to-read blogs are up with something new.

Oh yes!!! Actually I feel bad that I can't visit my friends as often as I would like to. I love reading their blogs, but I seriously am running out of time, I won't get anything done....

I culled my blog list not that long ago It felt good actually...
now I have google reader in two sections, one that holds the list of blogs I must read the moment they are updated, and one with blogs I read when I have time! My sister also tells me she cannot leave blogs unread or mark them read when they arent...

I am culling and adding blogs all the time. I have "morning coffee" (firefox addon) set up to open different blogs each day. These are the blogs I read as I drink my first cup of tea of the day. I am a die hard and still like to read the blog rather than the post in google reader etc.

Blogs I access less regularly I have set up in Session Manager (firefox addon also) by category. For example I have one group of favourite photography blogs which I would only open perhaps once a month but it is easily accessible.

I know exactly what you are saying. I often start out on one blog and then through their links and favorites keep blog hopping until I realized it's been hours and I'm still reading. But the over compulsive me almost wants to ask to see the list of blogs you visit, lol. Just hate to think I'm missing out on something

I think I visit *ALL* of them, lol. What is working well for me right now is I have culled my very favorites into Google Reader under my main gmail address. I have a secondary (secret ) gmail I mostly use for online shopping so people in the house don't see what I've ordered for presents. I set up all my other blog reads to go to that reader and I plan to log in once a week into that account and read. I know I could sort them all out between daily and weekly reading lists in my main Google Reader but I seemed to have been unable not to read everything every day. Now they are out of sight, kind of out of mind until I sit down to do my weekly internet reading. I have a couple other hobbies I like to read up on so I've found it works best to just hit the faves during the week and pick once a week to jest settle down with the computer and a glass of wine and read all the rest. It's a nice little reward.

I did set up all the scrabook pages I could find to feed into my Facebook status. Now I get to see all the daily promotions and sales. I'm ticked because my "sorted" friends list seems to have disappeared from the face of facebook earth (meaning all my friends from an old high school acquaintance to Ali Edwards to the teenaged kid who used to be my son's best friend to my good IRL friends are all jumbled together into my status feed) I used to have them all separated into lists so I could separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak if I didn't want to wade through a bunch of teenage prattle.

But the list sorting still shows up in the ipod touch app so I can read all scrapbook page postings and only scrapbook page posting easily there. (?????)

Schedule, schedule, schedule!!! So I'm off to the 50 cent sale and then off this computer to get actual stuff done IRL! lol
