I just have a category called "store" and in that category I have sub-categories for the different stores I use. (Although I'm not sure why, because I usually just use DD products!)
So when I'm searching for red paper (for example) I click "DD" in my "store" category and "red" in my "paper color" category. It was easy to put all the products into the "DD" category because I searched by Designer - I type the Designer into the Author field. I can find all products by Katie by clicking on her name in the list of Authors. Then I selected all the products (Ctrl+A) and clicked on the "DD" tag. Same for Anna and Lynn and Pattie, etc. You can always save a backup of your database and restore it later but it would only work if all your products stay in the same folders. I think that would cause you more grief than it's worth. And I think having a "DD" category is all you need.

I have to agree with Esther. I have category "Designers" and sub-categories of the main stores I shop at.
This works out great for me. If however, you do want to delete you d/b and start over, here are the instructions Deleting ACDSee Database and starting over.
