Default relive the Embellishment chat, or if you weren't there...

see what we were talking about! Plus, see what was missed because we ran out of time! So sorry it took so long to get these to you. The in-laws left late last night and this was my first chance to compile this! Ok, so here's a brief summary of our fun-filled hour!

Once I was able to get the text options working and we joked about how BIG my font was, lol . . .

And once everyone downloaded Katie's awesome freebie and oooh'd and ahhhh'd over it . . .

And once Britgirl/Mel announced the winner of her iTunes chat winner (Squeak/Shirly, yay!) . . .

em-bel-lish/Verb: To make (something) more attractive by the addition of decorative details or features, to make beautiful, as by ornamentation; decorate, adorn

We talked a bit about what our can't-live-without embellishments are, different categories of embellishments, what's hot & trendy right now . . .

mymalloryboys/Amy's page that uses embellishments as a central part of the design:
This is Why I Love Autumn - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals

popular shapes in embellishing and two examples:
JALong/Janet's gallery has great examples of using arrows:
JALong Gallery - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals

a great page using stars by missybaby:
Elmo Cupcakes - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals

A few people had asked for help with using 'the string thing' that came in the freebie and I gushed about Pattie's TieIts and gave these links for inspiration:

Today I feel like a . . . - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals
Sat Scraplift: 'Grow' - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals
Astro Blasters (Disneyland) - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals

Then we moved on to non-dimensional embellishing (but not before wendymck/Wendy made fun of me for using such big words, lol!) and the conversation moved toward Fotoglows and these examples were given:
earlofoxford/Linda's Memorable Face
echogirl/Doris' Look Mom
Phylis' entire gallery

Other great examples of non-dimensional embellishing:
DonnaGoar's page using Anna's LabelTransfers Clipping Masks
Ali's page
Ang66's AAM layout
and casbury's entire gallery

A page showing a great mix of dimensional and non-dimensional embellishing:
Christina's "Little Pilot"

And the chat couldn't go by without me mentioning the QUEEN of embellishing, Kayleigh!

Then we moved on to the trivia question to win the $5.00 gift certificate to the DD store, but not before I gave everyone two 'practice' questions! *snort* which segued into talk about Embellishing with Alphas and Jesse's awesome Angione alpha.
Anxela/Heidi won the trivia question (with JayDee4 coming in just a millisecond behind!) and the $5 coupon! Pattie was so sweet, she gave JayDee4 a prize of any one of her products! Thanks Pattie!

Thanks for being my wingman, Wen!

A few of the things I'd planned but didn't have time to discuss during the chat:

Using just a couple embellishment products for a great looking page:
Les: Balloons - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals (the LoopDaLoop and flowers add so much to this template!)
Kacy: The Wolf Tree - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals (wonderful repetition)

Embellishing with the date:
Sharon's date cluster in the lower left with a clever use of staples
muddygirl/Sam's cute combo of date strip and embellishment to show the date

Embellishment clusters:
classic flower/bow/tag combo Melissa Hill's LO: favourite things - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals
Katie's "Grand People": grandpeople - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals

Things you may not think of as embellishments: patterned paper, journalers, etc:
Linda/earofoxford used mostly patterned paper (cut to look like ribbon) to embellish this fabulous page: Katie on a Swing - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals
or like how Kayleigh uses journalers as embellishments in the Wee Ones Quick Pages (so cute!):

Thanks, that was my favorite chat of the day! The links are really great to go back to.

btw, I totally plagiarized your Mickey ears lo at Disneyland, and I want to thank you for your awesome inspiration. I can't post it, unfortunately, b/c I have a dh that is message board shy, but my version is almost as good as yours! Thanks again for a great chat.

Thank you so much for these notes and links, great to go back to them for inspiration. Your chat was a must for me, embellies are my very weak spot!

I think I'm putting too much stuff sometimes and not enough at other times... I'm so happy to be around so much great inspiration here!!!
