THEN & NOW summary
This topic overlaps with AAM, Heritage, and Write True. The focus of Then & Now is tying the past to the present… putting things in perspective… and placing events in history… through photos & journaling. JOURNALING I found several wonderful examples in the AAM Challenge #4: When I Was Your Age Brittany’s Letter to Me gives advice to herself: Letter to Me - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Kerry’s When we were your age compares 3 generations: When we were your age...AAM Challenge #4 - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Dawnee did a wonderful two page spread describing what she was doing at the age of all her kids: AAM 4: When I Was Your Age (page two) - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Carol’s Then and Now page is a great comparison of everyday details: AAM 04 - Then and Now - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Terri did a terrific layout showing where her college roommates came from and where they ended up! AAM - All About Friends - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals PHOTOS The most common photo comparison is probably one’s own baby photo with a current photo or with a photo of your child at the same age. Does it get any cuter than Jen’s You & Me page comparing a photo of herself with her daughter at age 4? AAM_4_copy - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals How about Jana’s comparison of herself to her 3 children at their respective ages? Your Age (All About Me Challenge 4) - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Another great photo comparison is showing a continued passion over time. Patricia captures her parents’ love of fishing with two photos about 40 yrs apart in Big Catch: Big Catch - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Kerry captures her love of outdoors with a collage of photos from 1967-2010 in My Happy Places: my Happy places - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Comparing styles over time is a really great technique (and fun!) Serenoa did a really fun page for the “Hair-itage” challenge showing her “do’s” over the years: Heritage Chall- Hair - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals And Dorah put together all her school photos for another fun page on the subject: Hairy Moments - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Also, Amy, Angela and Erica did a fabulous job with album cover photos from yesterday and today! Here is Amy’s: AAM#13--Then&Now - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Here is Angela’s: AAM#13 - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Here is Erica’s: AAM#13 Music - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals Less obvious choices for Then & Now photography… I saw a group at Flickr (called thenandnow) that finds an old picture of a location, then takes a picture at as close to the same spot as possible, then combines the two pictures side-by-side or top-and-bottom. I think that could be a really fun application for travel photos! Or if you live near a historical site! Elena, thank you for writing this all up. You did an awesome job with the chat. Like all of the chats, I was in and out all day....it is difficult to just focus with kids...I look forward to when I can do that. I missed that you included one of my pages....thank you so much and loved all of your examples! Thanks for all that you put into this!

Lisa & Bailey brought these examples to my attention... sadly I did not see their msg until AFTER my chat... so I thought I'd add the links here. They are WONDERFUL examples for our Then & Now Chat!
