Default September wallpaper how?

I am still learning digi, very slowly but love it so far. Could someone please tell me how to use the wallpaper calendar that Katie so generously provides? I did a search but nothing came up. I have downloaded it and unzipped it. But clueless as to what to do next. Thank you for your help and patience as i am sure this is very basic and probably the whole world knows but me.

Why don't you tell us whether you're on a Mac or PC and which operating system you use, then someone can help you install it as your wallpaper. It will be easy and fun!

Basically what you do is open the picture, take one of your photos and put it behind the opening, merge the layers and save the page. Like the other lovely ladies said, it depends on your program and your computer how exactly you do it! I just put mine up and it looks really cute, I put a picture of my grapes in it!

I am still trying. I open it in PSE. Bring my picture in but then my layer is locked. I am researching on the PSE thread trying to figure it out. I will figure it out probably just in time for October ( : I just wanted you to know i am trying. It has been a while since i have done anything for digital scrapbooking so i am just going to have to go back and revisit some of the beginner tutorials i took. I think this is something i am going to have to do weekly so i don't forget!

Go into PSE and open Katie's png file for your screen size. You will see only one layer in your layers panel

Now go up to File, Open and open the photo you want in that frame. (I'm on a Mac and now have PSE8. Not sure how you get your photo onto its own layer in 7, sorry.) But try dragging it up from the bottom onto your calendar page. I hope this works. If not, wait for a 7 user to guide you.

If your own photo is in the layers panel, drag it - in the layers panel - so that it is under the original png file. You can then wiggle the photo around and resize it to look right.

Then you can merge the two layers. Highlight the png layer in the layers panel and hit (cntrl e). Then save the merged file as a .jpeg. Now you have a new wallpaper to install!

I use PS so forgive me if this doesnt work. If you need to unlock the layer, just click on the padlock and drag it to the bin. You should be able to drag your photo (layer 1) below the background layer and position it in the opening of the destop, then flatten the layers together and save. Then you need to go to windows7 destop, right click and choose properties, and then locate the picture within there and set it as desktop picture, you could just add it to your current slideshow, if thats what you have already.

I hope that some of that has helped

Have you checked out the Getting Started page here. You might find some useful information to help you learn you way around the software. Also Cassie's tutorials in the store are a great place to learn sone PS/PSE skills I would suggest this one would be a good place to strat. Best of all they will be on sale on Thursday
