Default oh - how stupid can one be...

the past few weeks I have so looked forward to receiving the two photobooks I have ordered from Shutterfly and they arrived today.

First I flipped through my Crete book - a few spelling errors but I can live with that.

But turning to page 2 in my Naxos/Santorini book - shame on me - what do I see. A mistake beyond all..... how could I miss that when looking on the previews. I used a template by Anna Aspnes for this page and I really can't believe I have never seen what I did. Can you see it here - I have actually uploaded the page in the gallery it with the problem as well: in flight - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals. Talk about total blindness

Boy, am I happy that I just ordered one piece - and not the kids copy as well. Then I can fix this before I order their copies....

The kids and DH have sit and looked in the books today and remembered two great vacations and loved the books. I am the one totally annoyed with myself...

the problem is I have not deleted Anna's text on the template - YIKES!

I say "Go hybrid!" Print the text on a label and stick it right on there. No one will ever even know....but you!

Vigdis, if it makes you feel better, I have had that happen to me more than once. I absolutely love Anna's templates, but for some reason, those little extra text boxes fool me quite often. I have to look extra-hard sometimes because the paper or photo behind the text is dark.

I printed a baseball book for my DH, an 8X8, of every game we've been to since we've been married. Yep, double-page layouts. Except for one of the games, I had one game on the left and a completely different game on the right side! He didn't care, but to me, it was like fingernails on a chalkboard.

I'm laughing and crying with you, not at you, that's for sure!

Oh, so sorry! It looks creative to me!

In my last album I had two snow layouts. Unfortunately, I used one layout - twice. I put the same layout in both spots! Ugh!

Oh, no. I bet you don't make that mistake again. I bet I won't either now. lol It would be so easy to do. I'm glad you found it before you printed the others.
I had a photo that came unclipped in my 365 book last year and shows under the matts. I don't think I have a single book without something wrong with it that was operator error. lol Thanks for sharing your sad/funny story. :O)

Love Lynnies' comment..go hybrid!

I did something similar with my week in the life book. I had put initials on each of the large full page inividual photos and had changed everyone except for Ben and his was "J". Fortunately shutterfly had smeared 2 pages during printing and they kindly agreed to replace the whole book. Love their customer service!

So funny but agree that a sticker over the page with text is an easy solution.

Don't kick yourself too much. The hybrid solution sounds like a good one.

I did the same thing in my son's first book, but luckliy it was white on a cream background. I can still see the " Place your journaling here.........." line, but most people dont notice it

Vigdis, you are not alone! I printed a vacation book from last spring break, and when it arrived, right on the cover, it said "Subtitle here". I placed a cloth sticker over it that said "Adventure".

Well, that page is just beautiful! I say do what Lynnie suggests and cover over that part with your own text. Use a 2 sided adhesive strip....I think they would have something for you to use at a paper scrapbook store.

One of my first books had for the cover title: Asheville, Georgia instead of Asheville, North Carolina. Then to make it even worse I had the wrong year! I think I'll use Lynnie's suggestion and cover over it. I hadn't thought to do that!

Oh that's a shame!!! I agree with lynnie though, just cover it up! I did not see it at first, but the preview is pretty small. I do this all the time. I have a lady who comes to look at my blog and she always tells me about all the mistakes I make so I can fix them You need one of those

"Type your text in here"....!! Oh my!! I'm cracking up here!! I confess I've ALMOST done that myself with those templates. Anna tucks the journaling into nooks and crannies so unobtrusively that it is sometimes easy to miss. The gallery readers haven't proven to be very good proof readers for you, have they?!!
Don't suppose you have a plane ticket and plastic pocket you could stick over that offending part?

LOL...oh no!! Makes me think I should go take a look at some of my LOs...I've probably done that a few times myself and haven't even caught it yet! I'm sorry it happened...but like you said, at least you hadn't printed in multiples yet!

Mistakes-oh no, never me-WRONG! I vote that you go hybrid, that is what I have done. My biggest mistake seems to be nudging the photo somehow and it shows the template! I feel for you though, it always amazes me that I can stare forever at a page and not see the mistake until I get it printed!

I made an annoying error in a book that I made for a gift. I did just what Lynnie suggested--make a copy of the page on label paper. Peel off the backing and stick in place. Fortunately, my error was on a tab, and I just cut out the tab and stuck it on. I don't think anyone even noticed that it was a sticker. Maybe you could just cut out that section on the lines and stick it on...otherwise, stick on the whole page.

Oh no! That is so something that i am doomed to do as journaling is usually the last thing i do on a page. Hoping you can work something out hybrid wise for your copy.

Don't beat yourself up over this; it's an honest mistake. I love Lynn's suggestion of printing your journaling and placing it over Anna's text.

Oh, that must be frustrating! I think this is one of the reasons I chose to print out individual 12x12s and use slip-in albums! I just had my first 35 pages printed and can't believe I already found three typos... either grammar or a left-out word. But at least (if I really wanted to) I can reprint the pages at $1.50 each!

I think the sticker idea is great!

I'm so sorry, Vigdis!!!
But I'm laughing a little here...
I've been lucky and caught my mistakes BEFORE ordering, but it's so easy to do this and miss things!
I think you should go "hybrid" with your copy, and change the page before ordering the other ones!
