Hi everybody! I do my digital scrapbooking on my PC, but I am looking into getting a laptop (my PC is getting kind of old and it's slow). I want to make sure I get one that has a really good, high quality screen. I've noticed that laptop screens don't tend to have as good color, clarity, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation? Thanks!

I swear by Dell laptops. I'm on my third one now (I have a Precision) and I've been pleased with every one of them. The Precision is from the Business collection (versus Home) and I think it's built a little better than my previous Inspirons were ... but I was happy with them too!
I've heard people complain about Dell service, but I personally have found it to be impeccable. I called them recently to complain that the lettering was wearing off my laptop keyboard (after three years of daily use mind you) and they informed me that was covered under my soon to expire 3 year warranty and sent me a new one with instructions for replacing it. I called at 2:00 in the afternoon and the new keyboard was at my door by 11:00 a.m. the next day.

We have two Toshibas and they are great-love the screens-we also have an HP and it works really well too. I have called the IT for Toshiba and they were great-so that says a lot! Good Luck
I also have to say that they are extraordinarily tough-my dh had the 16 inch with him when he totaled the car and it still works like a charm! His bruises were clearly much worse than the laptops-I am truly amazed because it had to have gone flying!

If I was buying a new laptop, I would get a Mac if possible.
But, I couldn't afford a Mac four years ago when I needed a laptop, so I bought a Sony Vaio and it still works well. I picked it because I was specifically looking for screen brightness and crispness because it was important for scrapping. If you need a Windows laptop, then look at a Vaio. |

I would agree with Pattie...I have a Dell Studio XPS...the screen is gorgeous and the keyboard lights up in the dark. What ever you do, be sure to get more memory than you ever think you'll ever need. I have a 500 GB HD and 8 Megs of RAM.
I did have to use the Dell support right after I got the laptop and they came all the way out to the ranch.....the very next day. Stellar service!! Hope this helps.

I would agree on the Dell suggestions if I wasn't in love with my Mac. My brother has one, and I really like it.

I just purchased a dell laptop (studio 15) to augment my dell studio destop - got the full HD screen and so far it's been great to take to my daughter's gymnastics and stuff to sneak a couple of pages in. I was able to share my LR3, PSE8 and ACDSEE licenses between the two, and just put all my scrapbooking supplies on an external drive that I move as needed between the two. For photos I export part of my catalog from lightroom. I've had dell systems for quite some time (at work and home) and went with dell over hp because of my experience and the backlit keyboard. Good luck on your decision.
