I would love to hear others opinions about what I should get for a new computer.
Right now I have an iMac that is getting old - almost 5 years old (I told my dh that is 85 is "computer years"). It's a power pc so right now I can't update most of my software. I even went to get noiseware and as far as I can tell it isn't available for power pc Macs. I love to work on this desktop for my projects - whether that is photo editing or scrapbooking or what ever. I like the bigger screen and the mouse that is always right there. I also like the security of a desktop. I have never had trouble with the hard drive and I understand that desktop hard drives very rarely fail. I also have a MacBook that is 2 1/2 years old. I love the portability but I find the screen small when I am working on a project. I have lost the hard drive twice so it scares me a bit. Having two computers is good and bad. Sometimes I think I have things on one computer but it's on the other and vice versa. I'm not sure that I need two but I'm not sure what is the best way to go. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks so much and by the way I will still be going Mac. |

You know that you can use your iMac as an external screen for your MacBook?
At least that's what I've heard. If that doesn't work for you, I'd consider buying another external screen to use with your MacBook. That way you can put off upgrading a year or two. I would also suggest storing everything on external drives. That way, you can access everything with several computers. And back up your files with another EHD. (There are two types of people in this world. Those who back up their files, and those who will.) Otherwise, good luck on buying a new Mac. It's the best.
