can't help you with the mac thing (but there are several who can) but i sort by designer. that may seem crazy but i just know who's stuff is who's. i also use ACDsee and there i do more specific break downs by types of products (frames, alphas, paper, brushes, etc.)
i know people in the past have also mentioned having a favorites folder, and i think that is a great idea. stuff that you can grab quickly when you need it. good luck! |

If you do a search on organize supplies there are several great threads on this subject. I think it might have been Lynn who actually did a step by step set of instructions for organizing them using IPhoto
I checked and yes it was Lynn.. did a search on organize IPhoto and it was like the third one down... here's the link but I'm not sure how long it will stay here http://www.designerdigitals.com/digi...-supplies.html

I think being organized is a huge help when you go to scrapbook, but the key is finding that method that works best for you. For me, i use windows. I have divided my items into the following folders: Ali's words, Alphas, Brushes, Distress/Paint, Dates, Elements, Frames, Journaling Spots, Kits, Masks, Overlays, Page Templates, Paper Packs, Ribbons, Sentiments & Stitching. I have a seperate folder called Previews - this folder has all the folders that i just listed but holds the preview image that comes with the download. So when i go to find something i scroll through the preview folders & then go to the actual folder to get the item.
Know what i mean, sorta?! Good luck with your quest to find your way! |

So Kayleigh, your preview folder is separated into all the other folders also? Sounds like a simple and effective system

Here is my folder set-up (imagine that each word is a folder)
DESIGNER DIGITALS - within that is: {{PREVIEWS}} Ali's words, Alphas, Brushes, Distress/Paint, Dates, Elements, Frames, Journaling Spots, Kits, Masks, Overlays, Page Templates, Paper Packs, Ribbons, Sentiments, Stitching, Unzipped So when i download something it downloads into my unzipped folder. I unzip it then put it into the folder it belongs to. After doing that i copy the preview & put it into the corresponding preview folder. I never break up a kit, how it is in the store is how it is stored on my computer. All designers are mixed together, i don't seperate by Anna or Katie or Lynn ... Clear as chocolate pie?! |

I have my stuff organized exactly like Kayleigh!
I just have slightly different names on my folders, since I'm Swedish...

I just spent most of a (between helping out my daughter, who just had her tonsils and adnoids out!) day organizing my DD purchases. Phew! Took a long time!
What I'm doing is copying the papers out of kits and pasting them into my Papers folder. I have another folder that combines Frames and Photoclusters. There's another folder only for Kits. I have another folder that holds the Brushes files (some I moved, some I copies, after I realized how stupid moving only was). Another File with Alphabets, also copied from kits, or seperately bought. I went through all the files I have and tagged all the previews as "previews". However, I think I'm going to do what Kayleigh has done and copy them into their own folder so I have a better idea of what I have. Simple but great idea, Kayleigh!

I use Finder on my Mac. I have a folder for DD, and within that go full kits and folders for paper packs, frames, elements, templates, and alphas. I also have a Christmas folder there with either the very Christmassy items or their aliases. Within the elements folder I have subfolders for wordy elements and date elements. In the alpha folder, I have folders for each of the designers and I use aliases from kit alphas there as well as stand-alone alphas. I have a separate brush folder and put aliases to brushes there, and they're sorted as well into subfolders like Wordy, Dates, Masks, Frames.
I could probably use some more subfolders in my Elements folder--it's getting a tad unwieldy! I have preview images on all the folders, so I can see what's what pretty easily without having to open any folders.
