I scrap what I want when I feel like it. I print at home and put the layouts in D-Ring books. My finished books cover my memories, which is really all over the place, never chronological. I've done a couple themed books at Shutterfly too, but I like having the control to print my own books.

I'm trying to figure this out right now. In the past, I have always done shutterfly albums for my kids and they love them and look at them all of the time. I used to do all two page spreads but lately I have been enjoying doing single page layouts because there is more freedom and you can do so much more with one page layouts....not to mention I have learned that I enjoy scrapping moments rather than events. I know that if I continue to do Shutterfly albums, it will bother me if the side by side pages do not match so I'm thinking of going to the American Craft books and printing them out myself. I'm not quite sure about doing that though because my kids love their shutterfly books so much. I guess I will continue to ponder.

This is a wonderful topic, and I am so enjoying reading everyone's comments on this. I have always used American Crafts D-ring albums. I used to print at home, but my $500 Epson wide format printer started dropping ink in spots on my pictures. I cannot face the thought of sending that bad boy in for repairs! I've been printing my pages at scrappingsimply.com lately which is a great site.

I really have loved my Shutterfly books, and I may try this for my everyday pages. I don't mind if the facing pages don't match.

I recently printed my first 12x12 shutterfly book of everyday layouts and was interested to note that it didn't bother me at all to not have the facing pages match. It was just like in all my paper albums where it doesn't bother me if the facing pages don't match. Because I had previously only printed themed 8x8 books I was not sure how I would feel about it.

I have been debating for over a year about the printing 12x12 pages vs shutterfly books. I realized that my big 12x12 albums never get looked at, and they are so hard for my little ones to manage. The printed books are so easy to store, cost effective, enjoyable to look at, and just all around much more manageable.

For me the biggest problem with the printed and bound books is just getting enough pages together to print one and not being able switch the order etc. That is a really big draw back, but one that I decided to solve by just chronologically scrapping all the things I wanted to scrap. Maybe not the ideal solution but one that works for me for now.

I have really enjoyed hearing about other peoples solutions/takes on how they get their memories printed!

That is exactly how I feel Jana. I do like scrapping certain parts of events to capture dates or pieces. But somehow, that's what photo albums seem like they're for. I create pages because I want to remember moments. My scrapbook pages are more like my personal journal that I happen to share with my family. (And DD. )

I know you probably have your own reasons---I was scared because I am an extremely meticulous, attention-to-detail kind of person and the thought of ordering a $100+ book and seeing a typo really made my stomach hurt.

Then I ordered my first book, and it had not one, but four typos! I was sad for about five minutes, then the joy of holding the book in my lap with my daughter oo-ing and ah-ing over it made me forget the typos. Every book I've ordered since has had some kind of typo or mistake on a LO (paper overlapping somewhere, an element not completely erased, that kind of thing) and I have found that I am not nearly as upset about it as I used to be.

You can do it!

Along those lines, I have gone so far to just cover up the mistakes in the books! Love the photobooks

My very first Shutterfly book I made does not have any matching pages in it and I love it just as much as the ones with the two page spreads. My everyday book is usually only one page spreads and doesn't always even match colorwise. My event books I usually do two pagers because those ones I like to have flow.
But everyday is what it says, everyday. And if I want to capture those moments then I have to take them as they come.

My DS's 1st year book (and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th in production ) is nearly all one pagers and I love it. When I'm looking through it I dont think about that the page next to it doesn't match, I am too busy looking at and reading the memories. When I did look at it from a technical perspective and found my typos and text layers I'd forgotten to turn off etc. I found that I like the way it looked, a bit random. Having said that, I was careful when I put it together though and moved any page the was obviously clashing with the page beside it. That was hard for me because I'm a chronological scrapper ( printing wise, not scrapping wise )so I had to move a couple of pages out of order a bit, but in the long run thats not going to matter one bit.
I could just not do double spreads because I make 101 page books and still have to leave out photos from the year. I would have to do two volumns for each year and I dont want to do that. Can't afford to either!

I have my LO's printed as books - usually at Shutterfly.
And sometimes I print at home to have a LO framed for me or as gifts!

I have a wide format printer and have printed a lot of my pages 8x8 but found a site called scrapbooksplease and I get them printed there and then put them in albums for the children. I also have a room full of paper albums from when I was doing paper books. I have hundreds of digital pages and probably will never get them all printed but pick out my favs to do. I have them all on a hard drive and DVD.
