Default Best place to get an 8.5 x 11 photo book printed ?

Hi,

I want to get my first photo book printed but I want to get an 8.5 x 11 one as I scrap only in that size and will be using layouts in my book. I know that Shutterfly doesn't do one and Blurb only does 8 x 11. Has anyone out there had an 8.5 x 11 photobook printed and was the quality good ?

Thanks for your help.

SJ

I've done a 8.5 x11 book using mypublisher before I found shutterfly. The quality was good. I had some trouble with the shipping (I live in Canada). I've since switched to 8x8 and 12x 12 and so far I have had no problem with Shutterfly.

Here's a link to a recent thread and review of the different printing companies. Good Luck!

Mypictales.com do 8.5x11 and I have printed several books there with great success earlier and I make all my singles there.

Shutterfly DOES do a 8.5 x 11 but not with a custom cover. They are a leather type with a window, but I have gotten 8.5x11 books printed with them and love them.

Thanks so much for all your help..
I had narrowed it down to Inkubook but the shipping was going to cost more than the book (I am in New Zealand). So, I might try the Shutterfly one with the leather cover.

I see that they do an 8.5 x 11 at www.scrapbookpictures.com and the shipping rates are very reasonable yet I don't see them included in any reviews, has anyone used them for a photo book ?

Thanks again for your replies.

You might try Persnickety Prints. I'm not sure if they do the size book you want, but the quality of what they DO do, is outstanding, and they are FAST.

Not to be picky, but I think Shutterfly is 11x8.5 (horizontal not portrait). I've been quite happy with Scrapbookpictures.com for prints and I'm considering them for a future book. If Lynn Grieveson doesn't chime in here, you might want to pm and ask her, as she lives in NZ.

I believe you are correct. I was just looking at this as you are offered a free book if you sign up for one of their pre-paid discount plans.

Hi, I use Viovio. I used to use Shutterfly. Viovio's quality seems comparable to Shutterfly but maybe a tad bit less consistent but the prices are better and there are a lot more options - sizes, kind of paper, covers and size. I'm about to order an 8 1/2 x 11 with over 400 pages. I have never ordered one this big - hope it stays together. I had a harder time figuring out Viovio's website than Shutterfly's but eventually I got it.

if you go to Welcome to DigiScrapInfo!, there is a "Book/Size Finder" on the right hand side, about half way down.

Heidi has also done some nice reviews of printing companies on the blog.

Thanks for your help everyone.
I have decided to go with VioVio as they have a flat shipping rate for international of 7.99 - if you spend over $30. It takes 4 - 8 weeks for delivery but I can live with that.
Andariega, I am looking forward to hearing how your big 8.5 x 11 book turns out!
