Default YESSSS! ACDSee Photo Manager 12 is OUT!

And it's Windows 7 compatible!
I am so stinkin' excited! I'll be worthless to the world tonight - checking out all of the new features

The first thing that caught my eye was the online storage space - 2GB and upgradable. That will be so handy while we are away on vacation! And looks like they've added a Facebook sharing feature.
(Apologizing in advance to my facebook friends who will probably now be inundated with my photos! LOL!)

Free, 30-day trial downloads available exclusively through CNET through April 23 (I linked up the word CNET for you) and then after this week, 30-day trial downloads will be available at: ACDSee Photo Software

Wonder if Joel would notice if I didn't pick him up from school today because I was busy downloading new software? LOL!

Will this let me switch all my tags that I made in PSE 8 over? I'm going to be using CS pretty soon, but have LOVED the organizer with PSE. Since there is no organizer with CS, I hoped ACDSee would come out with a Windows 7 compatible upgrade, but will only go with it if it will take my tagged supplies. If not, I'll keep PSE 8 going just for the Organizer. (Am I blathering?)

Shar,
I haven't tried it personally yet, but they say you can choose File -> Write Tag Info to File in Elements. Then in ACDSee, you can use the keywords to create your new categories.

I used PSE Organizer for years, but I find ACDSee much more user-friendly and robust. It's really fast, too.

Oh, Sara, that would be great. I loved ACDSee when I tried it, but it was unpredictable/unstable with Windows 7, so I gave up after spending 2 days tagging things only to have them totally disappear. I'm very excited about this, especially since I will be moving to CS2.

this is great -- I started a trial install a couple of weeks ago but was waiting for the new version to make a purchase.

I pre-ordered ACDSee 12 since I was getting a new computer with Windows 7 and I was worried it wouldn't work with 2009. I'm so glad I did - 2009 imported only about 10% of my tags and ignored the rest (even using the embed feature). I installed the new version right away and was back up and running in a few minutes - pphhewww!!!

So far there's not a lot of new features I use but I do like the way they've changed the organizer so its easier to tag from there.

woohoo! i had a 50% off coupon (i'm a registered user) and i am downloading now. i lost all my tags in the switch but since they probably wouldn't have worked with win 7 anyway, i guess i'm no worse than i would've been!

thanks for the head's up sara....you enabler you!

So-if I have the old version and I download the trial-does it override the old and then what happens if I let the trial run out without buying, does it magically go back to to the old version? Sometimes I get a bit confused about all this!

Wendy, what version did you upgrade from? I'd be downgrading from pro 2 and can't risk losing my 3 years worth of tags. I'd love to get 12 but not if I'll lose all my tags. Also do you know if can you rename a bunch of files in one click as you can in Pro?

I just upgraded from Pro 2.5 to 12 and I didn't lose a single tag. Just be sure that you choose to convert the database from the previous version when asked during installation and don't delete the old Pro 2.5 or it's catalogs until you're sure all went well.

If you're a registered user, make sure you log into the Support Forum to get your coupon code as directed on ACDSee's home page. As Wendy said, it's about half price that way!

So far, I'm liking this new version a lot. Much faster than any of my previous versions. And, I don't want to curse myself ... but I haven't experienced unexplained program crashes as I did with ALL the previous versions, both Standard and Pro!

Sorry, don't know the answer to the renaming ... that's not something I have ever tried to do as I just use ACDSee for my scrapping supplies and organize my photos in Lightroom.

That's encouraging to hear Patti, especially about the unexplained crashes. That drove me nuts. I'm goin to download the trial and see how it goes.

Update: I downloaded the trial version, converted my database from Pro over to PM 12 and absolutely LOVE it now! PM 12 did not crash on me the entire time I used it last night. Pro would have crashed at least 2x by then. PM 12 is also super fast compared to the pro version. It took awhile to get used to features being in different places and having to go about things a little bit differently but I'll definitely be buying it. Just wanted to share my experience with it

I am so happy with PM 12! I love the new interface. It took me a bit to get uses to using the tabs to move through Manage/Edit/View modes, instead of hitting the backspace key.
But now it just seems to go so much faster.

I wrote a quick review on my blog as well as a how-to for using the ACDSeeOnline feature.
