Default My husband thought

all the digital downloads were free....

Conversation in my house this week:

Hubby: Hey, I was downloading the debit card statement and what are all these little charges to creative click?

Me: Those are my digital supplies.

Hubby: Huh? What do you mean?

Me: You know all those LOs I've been showing you? It's all the papers, embellishments and other stuff to make them.

Hubby: Seriously?

Me: Yeah, I don't get why you are so surprised. I told you I was downloading them.

Hubby: I thought they were free.

Me: Uhhh. Nope. Some are.

Hubby: I thought after you got Photoshop, all the other stuff was included.

Me: Uhhh. No sweetie.

Hubby: Looks like I need to add this to the budget.

Me: Yeah that'd be great!

At least he was angry, huh? Just completely confused.

I love it! When I first started shopping here, I told DH "you're going to see these 25-cent charges from Click Creative." A month later, "Hey, who is this 'Click Creative'?" Ha! When we were in Disney in '07 we think someone lifted our debit card number and there was a scam going on with merchandise in Italy where the person was doing 10-15 $3 charges at a time to try to buy some jewelry. After our bank caught it, they put a security tag on our account. So if I buy more than one $2.99 item here in a day in separate transactions, they will turn down the card. So I just have to be sure I spend a lot more!

I love both of these stories, Kelly and Sarah. Too funny! Sarah, what a nice problem to have that you MUST spend more.

Too funny! My credit card statement had Click Creative on there like clockwork... EVERY thrifty Thursday and EVERY Sunday... and sometimes on additional one on another day if something "came up."

That is SO familiar. LOL!! Since buying from DD is in dollars.... a foreign currency.... I would get, for EVERY transaction - a separate letter from the bank with the amount and the amount withdrawn from my account in Shekels....

You can only imagine how many such letters I would get??? Often several at the same time. A little embarrassing when my dh took the mail in.

Aino, that would be embarrassing! And it seems quite redundant---does the bank have to send you a letter? I would imagine they would just put it on your statement next to the USD amount. I would have to intercept our mail if that were the case here.

Kelly, I meant to say in response to your post, that so many people don't understand digital supplies or the process in general. I received an anonymous gift card for the store here at Christmas. I thought my husband gave it to me (it was from someone else, not DH), and when I asked him, he said, "I didn't even know there was a store there." Huh? This is a year AFTER the "Click Creative" comment. He said, "I just thought you were buying stuff from a store online, but I didn't know what it was." Telling someone you buy digital supplies is a bit of an oxymoron those those who aren't in the know.

Since I take care of all of the finances I only have to justify the purchases to myself. Luckily I understand how important this is. I am so lucky to have such a reasonable self.

Ahhh....you younger girls need to learn the important things in life.....your own checking account!!! Yes my dear friends, I have my own account! I am accountable to only me!! My DH knows the online password....but never looks!! I am a lucky woman!! Private online shopping!! Now the ONLY other problem is that we share an email address....and the store is so organized and prompt that I always get the receipt within seconds....so I have to have my email open so I can delete the receipt. I guess I just need to get my own email!!

The same here ... isn't nice to be so reasonable! Besides, compared to the working supplies my husband buys, this is cheap!!

I pay all the bills, hubby isn't interested in those minute details, which was very fortunate for me!! I had CC on my statements all the time..... Every Thursday was like Christmas and Sundays were eagerly anticipated... I stopped buying Avon stuff and justified my expenses that way, plus there were other little things I stopped buying, it's quite addictive to say the least.
Your stories are just hilarious!!

I do the financial stuff in our house and every time I see that DH has spent something with i-tunes (his hobby) then I feel quite justified in spending a similar amount with DD. I have no justification for all the other times;-) I have a similar problem to Aino my account is in Euros and there is one item on the statement showing the purchase and another a couple of days later showing a small charge for converting from dollars

Ditto on that one!

I don't do Starbucks much anymore, and my iTunes habit has waned, and I don't buy groceries for the family anymore, and that electric bill...who needs electricity, and gas for the car...well I have legs, right???

Oh, the sacrifices one must make for DD purchases.....

Oh, so much to say.... and add.... Yes, i, too, do the finances.. but lately my DH has been wanting the Credit Card statements, etc.... so after MUCH explanation on why it is important to me and how i never buy anything(most of the time) unless it is on sale... he (kind of) gets it.... but my purchases from the "sale" last month... WOW!
He was like, "so you should be good for the year then, right?"
me: "ummmm.... no..." i compared it to his hunting... "remember how you needed a whole list of things when you started out or you couldn't go because you didn't have this or this or this???? That's like my digi scrapping, dear... I can't do a page unless i have multiple packages of elements, papers and supplies..."
He says, "well, isn't it mostly about the photo's themselves and not the other junk on the page??" Oh, just hit a girl where it hurts!!!!!!!!!! What a jab!
me: "well, it is about the pictures, but all the other "stuff" on the page is what makes it so interesting and fun to look at."
He says, "Well, don't you get free stuff every week? Can't you just work with that???"
me: "well, the free stuff is VERY FUN and i pounce on the downloads every week, but no, it's not enough..."
Him: "so i should get used to seeing Click Creative Group on the statements every month???"
Me: "yeah, probably."

this all happened yesterday.... i think i may get a debit card for my personal checking that i've had for 7+ years that i don't really use... try to offset some of the purchases per month by using that account sometimes....

Fun thread... it's nice to know i'm not the only one...

LOL so fun..the only explaining I had to was during Christmas....those daily specials plus the 25 cent items led to a large number of items!
"But look how much I'm saving honey' ....May have been repeated more than once.

I did all the finances in my first marriage and afterward and was very glad to hand it over to Dick. The .27 or .53 charges did irritate him, not the larger ones, just because it didn't seem worth it, so I switched to my own debit card which I had never used. I know when I'm behind in even knowing what digital things I have so I do resist buying more than I can 'handle'.

He did suggest buying a $50 or $100 gift card periodically to draw down on but the ones here don't seem to work that way. In any case, Creative Click is almost the only thing on that account and I have no interest in ever total ling the amount! It's all good.

I try to stay reasonable with the digi budget and am successful that is until those darn great quarterly sales! But the deals are so good and the stuff is so good, that I can't help myself.

haha - this thread is great! I'm another one raising my hand in charge of our household finances, DH has an idea that I pay for stuff, I used to be a CM paper-scrapper tho and I keep making mention of how darn cheap this stuff is compared to paper - and 'oh I can use it like a million times if I want to - I don't actually have to *cut* the paper' - it's all lin the education process... and the fact that he truly has NFI about the accounts

I have my own account and specifically got my own debit card so that my DH couldnt see just how many times CC followed by an international transaction fee appeared on our credit card.

My hubby spends enough money on his own pursuits that it's not an issue here, but it does bode will for separate finances! LOL

Sam that's really bizarre, I don't get slugged any fees for international transactions. It's only the charge for what I buy but instead of say $3 US it might say $3.65 AUD. That's it. Just the exchange rate.

Carol, it seems that different banks and different cards have different set ups for this. I would love to find one that didnt charge an international fee. Mine is about a $1 AUD for each transaction, so I have to factor that into the cost of things I buy. Its a good excuse to buy more, cause if I just buy the 2 x25c items they cost me about $1.57 AUD( based on last sunday). It seems to start at $1 and then goes up a few cents the more I spend.

Wow-added fees! Anyway I read the conversation to my dh and he just smiled-because he never looks at the bank statement-we make of list of things to pay and he does it and I keep track of the balance!
Anyway he did try to say that I probably had enough supplies-he didnt like my response and we both laughed!
