It seems that we women are geekier than some of our spouses, tho not mine by a long shot.
It should be interesting to explain why these items..'so you don't REALLY get anything?' have to be stored in 'the cloud' when you run out of space on your backup.

This thread is killing me! So funny!
I'm glad I have my own credit card... Especially during the quarterly sales... Lets just say I memorized my credit card number a very long time ago.

I am getting the biggest kick out of this thread.. and yes Maureen.. don't know about anyone elses house but.. IRL I design computer applications for a living and.. well.. let's suffice it to say.. my husband does NOT :-) He's so bad that I have one PC that I keep on an old version of AOL because even the upgrade to the newer version of AOL thru him into a tizzy... the cloud, EHD, offsite backup, etc all the terms we throw around here, are not in his vocabulary :-)

I so love this thread. I guess everyone has had the what's this click creative discussion with DH. I thought the disclaimer at checkout was only for us. My DH actually asked if I got to keep my Kits/supplies or "return" them like they were a digital movie or something. :-) I guess all the small charges for sales and 25 cent items threw him off.
Maureen - I also loved your comment about him not understanding the small charges. I am now prepared for that discussion. Since DH does the finances at my house he hates the "nickle and dime" charges from coffee and such. He now gives me my so called milk money every Sunday night to save time recording most of the small transactions. I can't complain, it sure makes it easy not to have to worry about the details.

Mine go on my Amex - no international charge fee there Sam.
DH pays the bills - but the credit card is in my name so he can't complain - he never looks at the statement anyway - he gets the email to say the account is there and ready to be paid. So he pays it - has never once questioned what is on there and it's usually around the $1000 mark a month - and it's all money I've spent (mainly groceries and fuel).

I have access to all of my husband's accounts, passwords - you name it! But he knows NOTHING about my business!!! I pay all our regular bills from his account, and use my own for fun things like scrapping-supplies and shoes...

ROFL! Exactly! This is so funny.
Never had to worry about this as dh has always been super supportive of my scrapping and he himself has very expensive hobbies. Plus, I've always been pretty good about watching our money, so he never complained once. But these stories are cracking me up!

Funny as this thread is, it is reminding me of an issue here in the US (I don't know laws etc in Sweden or other countries)
While it is wise to have money in your own name and account as I do and have done through our marriage, it is also important to have access info to each other's accounts. We have so many on line ones these days that I had to remind Dick to provide me a list of all such accounts and passwords - just in case. On another note, I have see, in a former job, too many women whose husbands either died or left them after clearing out the bank accounts with NO clue of how 'their' money had been handled. If your marriage is good, your spouse will be glad to make sure you are protected from endless time and grief after death. If your marriage or parntership isn't good, then I advise you to be sure accounts that have the bulk of your family $$ in them include both of you as signators etc Now back to our regular scheduled shopping!

This is true---a good friend of mine got sick two years ago and after almost a year nearly unresponsive in intensive care, she passed away. When she started feeling the abdominal pain (she died from complications of gallstones and pancreatitis), she scrambled to gather her paperwork together; she had a feeling she wasn't going to come home.
Her husband had no idea where she put all their money (she was the breadwinner), he didn't know where the accounts were, he had no knowledge whatsoever of their financial status. They were having problems, so it was more out of protection for her and her children, but regardless, sorting out all that mess was a headache for everyone involved. We have a joint checking account and savings account. I have my "fun money" I earn from teaching and the symphony, and if I need to buy something with it that requires using a credit card or check, I will deposit the money and tell hubby "I've put $x in the bank for this," and he writes it down. We're pretty simple, not a big income, so for us it's not complicated. But it is important to have an idea about how your finances work, or at least know where all the paperwork is, and be sure it's in order. You just never know.
