Oh my. I am chronological all the way. Currently working on 2008 photos. I name my folders by year and month. I scrap them month by month. Always start with a pic. The pick a sketch or template or create a thought in my brain what I want it to look like when done. Pick out papers next. They may reflect back to my years of paper scrapping and having THOUSANDS of printed photos just waiting to be scrapped. My journalling is always last and I am very lacking in it. One of my 2010 new years resolutions was to improve my journalling. Looking at my completed pages, I am not doing very well on that....

It varies for me as well. Sometimes its all about the photo, and sometimes its all about the story. Since I am a designer, it sometimes is about highlighting a kit, but having children, there are stories i want to capture right away, so its about the story first, and then finding the kit that goes best with it.
I'm sorry this probably wasnt a lot of help. But if i can offer any advice, it would be to scrap from your heart, there will be times you scrap because you have a special pic you want to highlight, and sometimes its all about the story you want to tell. Make sure those are kept as the most important things. The kits will come to you as you need them. Happy Scrapping, |

I hate journaling. HATE journaling, so my pages always revolve around pictures. Plus, although I am really drawn to the very artistic pages, I focus on my audience (my family) and try to make the pages interesting to them. And, I would really like to spend hours and hours and hours making a page *just perfect*, but reality sets in and I just want them done. The joy I get from going through them with my kids far outweighs the joy I would get from designing an outstanding page--but if I happen to do so by chance, yeah for me!

I almost always start with a photo(s) and let it evolve from there. If I'm doing a book, I'm more likely to use a 'set' of templates for continuity! I have so many partially done books going right now that I prioritized them yesterday so I can complete as many as possible for Christmas gifts!

wow! Lots of great ideas here! Scrapbooking is so artistic for me that it is hard to have a system. Although I do have a system for organizing the photos, I don't have a system for scrapping. The only thing I have found to help is laying out all the photos I want to use for a particular book at the very beginning. So I make a little list that says I will use photo A, B & C on page 3 and use Photos X,Y & Z on page 4. Then from there I go a-scrapping! Usually I don't even scrap in any particular order of pages either... just what inspires me on that particular day I sit down to work on the album

I am a random scrapper. If I have an idea in my head, then I run with it. I have no books printed yet since I am new to this, but when I get there, it will probably be subject based verses just printing them to get them printed. I love color so I usually find everything to go with whatever I am thinking of for a layout and then find the photo, or finding quotes and so on. I don't want to feel like I have to do it a certain way or feel like I am band to scrap everything I take pictures of. This is me being creative

Absolutely photos first! I am so far behind that I am only concerned with the memories. I love DD because I always do double pages and usually my favorite on 1 side and the other side is clusters. DD always has the perfect templates for my style.
