Default Love my new Mac except for the mouse

Does anyone else find the Mac mouse cumbersome?

First I find it has a very hard click. It also seems to require a good deal of area to move around the entire screen. and it seems like I have to be dead center on something to click on it.. like the red dot to close the screen..

I went to the mouse panel and the only adjustments I could make were speed and something about momentum which I didn't quite get so I left it alone.

Just wondering if it's just me??? It may just be that I use a logitech mouse all day but I'm disappointed that I can't have a tail on the mouse to make it easier to see, etc. If anyone has found a way to make other adjustments could you please share. Thank you

I'm afraid the mighty mouse was one of my favorite accessories when I got my mac. Now, I use a pen tablet so ANY mouse is cumbersome. lol I hope people have some suggestions for you and things get better, because I know you are going to love your mac. :O)

Donna,

I hear you. The Mac Magic Mouse stinks ... and it pains me to say that. I have had it replaced twice because the trackball broke due to loose plastic pieces. Like Katrina, I'm using a Logitech MX Revolution mouse with my Mac, and have had not problems since.

I've actually read poor reviews of the magic mouse. My iMac just has the standard apple mouse, which I really don't care for, but I haven't been unhappy enough to replace it!

I like my mouse... except when I use PSE, lol! I have to turn off the zoom with the mouse function -- or I inadvertently zoom in when I don't want to!

Mine doesn't have a trackball or anything, but seems to work well enough...and the battery lasts pretty long.

I like that I can scroll sideways with the magic mouse....

Good Luck!

Oops, Donna! Sorry ... blasting the wrong Mac mouse! Mine is the wireless mouse that came with my iMac two years ago. Really stinks! I didn't have the Magic Mouse.

But ... if you use a Logitech mouse elsewhere, I think you'd be happier with one at home as well. I really enjoy mine!

I had a hard time adjusting to the SIZE of my screen re the mouse. Visually, it's great but moving with a mouse is a lot of moving. I have had my arm on the desk/table for years so I have a lot of mouse space but still there are times I really have to m.o.v.e.

I have a magic mouse but messed it up in trying to use it with both the iMac and the Macbook. It's another Apple question that I haven't gotroun2it.

I haven't used a mouse for a couple years, ever since I started using the pen with my Wacom tablet for all computing. I even bought a spare because I would be so lost without the pen if I ever lost it or misplaced it.

Yep, Tracy -- the Mighty Mouse was the one before. I hated that one -- track ball always got stuck. I have the magic mouse now and I do like it, but I switch between that and a pen. I love how the magic mouse scrolls anywhere on the mouse.

It sounds like maybe your mouse isn't set to the right size monitor or something??

Thank you everyone for the ideas.. I'm definitely going to get a tablet eventually but right now it's enough of a challenge switching to Mac, trying to fix everyone in my families PCs (at least that's what it feels like) and learning digital scrapbooking.. I figured when I actually start producing pages then I'll consider that purchase.. in the meantime I stopped on the way home last night and bought the same Logitech mouse I use all day so I am one happy camper now :-)

I switched from the Mighty Mouse to the pen tablet, which I used for a year or more, but when I got my new iMac in November with the Magic Mouse, I thought I'd give it a try--and I haven't looked back at the tablet since. LOVE the Magic Mouse!

I found that the mouse that came with my new mac was difficult too, so I've switched ot my old microsoft mouse from my PC and it works great.

I am with you here Laura...it is so handy and intuitive to me...loving the Magic Mouse. I use the pen for writing or drawing, but everything else is that amazing little mouse.

I think that my biggest problem is I use one mouse all day long and then try to switch at night so I never had time to get used to it.. I gave it to my son and he loves it.
