Default Lightroom 3 Beta

Has anyone else used this? I can't get it to run without crashing right away. It opens, gets as far as the "import photos" screen then gives me that microsoft critical beep tone and either causes my pc to get hosed up or it just suddenly closes. The first time I tried opening the program it actually caused my computer screen to start flashing because you could tell the program was stuck in some kind of error loop with no way of getting out of it. I'm hoping the tested program turns out much better than the beta because so far it's not even usable for me. Is it just a weird glitch I'm encountering or did anyone else have issues? I'm running XP Pro, plenty of memory etc.

I've been using it since December. I'm running on Vista 64bit, no problems with it crashing.

Try downloading and re-installing.

I haven't tried the beta yet. Anyone who has, want to comment on it? What do you like better than LR2? Do they know when the "real one" will be out?

Well I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still crashed the minute I click on "import". I noticed within the installation folder they had both a LR.exe and also a 32setup or 64setup.exe so I tried running the 32setup.exe instead of the regular LR one thinking that might have been the problem but it STILL crashes when trying to import photos. As soon as I click on import the whole program just disappears! Sometimes I get that critical beep sound but other times it's just silent and gone. I cannot figure it out and unfortunately now I can't try the program out. I'm bummed. I was planning on buying LR3 when it was released because I'm only running LR1 right now but I'm scared I won't be able to get it running after investing $100 on it. Dang it!

I'd contact support, since it's a Beta, you may be running into an issue that is known.

I have the lightroom3 Beta version and so far I love it. Not sure if it's because I hadn't exactly figured out lightroom2 or because it's that much better. It has a Flickr Publishing service, so all my tags in lightroom auto load into Flickr and I can load bunches at a time (not that I do, but I could). Probably 2 could do that as well, but I'd only had 2 for a month before the beta 3 came out and I quickly switched. It's super easy in 3, it only took me 2 minutes to figure it out. Also I think installing presets is easier in 3, but again I'd only tried it a couple of time in 2. I also like the importing better, but that's just me being me. I've had no problems with the beta version on my PC which is running XP.

Hmmm maybe I'll try redownloading the link and starting all over fresh. Maybe my download link was corrupt and causing the problems. I've never run into issues like this before installing something so maybe something went funky from the get-go. Otherwise if it happens again I'll contact their support and see if it's happened to others.
