Default Question about nudging

I use Photoshop Elements 6. The other day I figured out by using the arrows, I can nudge things just a little, instead of moving them with my mouse. Today I was working on a layout, and it was working. Then all of a sudden, it wouldn't work. I saved it, went back in, and it would let me do it again. Then it won't. Is there something else that overrides the nudging so then the arrows don't work for that, or what am I doing wrong? (If that doesn't make sense, I'll try to clarify)

Funny you would be asking about this.....I just updated to PSE 8 and my nudging won't work either.....I never had any problems in PSE 7. Hopefully somebody can come to our rescue!!

If I do ctrl + T (for transform), the nudging works. I'm using PSE6.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's so much easier for me to nudge when I want to move just that tiny little bit. I appreciate your help.

I dont know if this applies cause i use cs4, but I have to have the move tool selected for nudging with the arrows to work. Also check that you dont have the number lock on. Sometimes that can change how your arrows behave. HTH

This is a known bug in PSE. Adobe has a tech note on it on their website. No patch, no fix, it just keeps showing up in subsequent versions. The official title is something like nudge tool won't work after layer style has been applied.

I had that problem in 5, and now in 6. Linda posted the only workaround, to use the transform tool. If they got rid of this bug, you could nudge in increments as well (10 px at a time or 1 px at a time).
