Default save, Save, SAVE

It amazes me how often I have to learn this little lesson.

I just spent over an hour painstakingly using the clone stamp tool and the healing brush to remove a big black transmission wire from across a photo of Arcos in southern Spain, zooming in to pixel level and back out to see how it looked, over and over. I have to say it turned out great, but you'll never see it, because just as I finished, my laptop froze. And had I saved this as I worked?
NOOO!

So remember, ladies . . . save, Save, SAVE!!

That's when it happens - when we're SO focused on the details. As soon as you think you're almost done that's when you think to save! Wouldn't an auto save or a built in reminder be handy?!

Don't we all wish there were an auto-save? Criminey, if Gates can include it in his products, why can't Adobe?

I have tried to really force myself to get into the habit of new layer, new save but I know how forgetting happens. btdt too many times.

I was about to post this very same reminder, as I had my own painful reminder about it last night. Didn't lose as much as you did, but still . . . For some reason I don't save often enough in PS at all. I guess I just get so transfixed by what me and PS are doing together that I just forget.

Maureen, that's a good mantra "new layer, new save". Maybe if I tatooed it on my hands, I would remember it?

For some silly reason I kinda felt safe after changing to Mac, and for several years got out of the habit of saving, but as the stuff in the computer grew, Photoshop slowed down and I found out a couple of weeks ago Mac isn't infallible! Mine was an on and off all day job and it too will never be seen!
I do feel for you.

I feel your pain. I am so sorry! I forget to save so many times, you'd think I'd learn, but noooo. I don't.

My neighbors probably could have heard me. Thank you for the reminder. I sometimes forget and have lost layouts that way.
