I think you could use a DD template and customize as they come in layers. Right? Then you could send the flattened version to a printer or to the mom.
Or, you could just create a document the size you want (just check around for standard sized announcements and cards and pick the one you like), then send;
either way would work.
You could send them to any number of printers.
I use WHCC and download their blank templates...I think they are open to non-pros now, although I'm not certain.

If you click on the print services link here at DD (at the top of the site) it takes you to where the blank cards are on shutterfly that you can upload your own design to.
