I have a huge favor to ask! My 8 year old DD, Morgan, made a goal for 2010 to learn how to scrap! She just did her first LO and uploaded to the gallery. If you have a moment, could you please leave her some encouragement?
TIA! PS She just asked if she could do the next 30 MM! I am creating a monster! She also wondered if she needs to write a thank you note for each comment she receives on her LOs! Bless her heart! Her gallery: Morgan_M (DD of Joey_M) Gallery - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals ETA: When Morgan went to bed she said, "Mom, do you think I will get 5 comments, because that is a lot of thank yous to write!" She is going to be overwhelmed at the amount of love and support she has received. You guys rock! Thanks so much for making Morgan's day and my day too! I am thankful for you all! |

That is so sweet. Reminds me of when Holly wanted to scrapbook this summer with me. She wanted to post her page here and was so thrilled to get the comments from the thoughtful ladies here at DD.
Off to leave a comment!

Joey, the response was awesome! It is really such a great page, I love all the photos and the frames. It inspires me to try to get Bailey started on it this summer. She's a little impatient, though, how are you teaching Morgan? I would love to know how to teach Bailey. She has a laptop with Elements on it.

Well, Sarah, the first thing I did was show her how to turn the software on (PSE 5.0)! Sounds silly, but that was tricky for me the first time I started! I introduced her to the Organizer and how to do searches for various items. Her fave seems to be hearts and glitter! I showed her how to drag and drop from the Organizer to the Editor, showed her the photo bin, tools palette and layers palette (we call it the layered sandwich). She quickly learned the undo stroke and the clipping mask! I showed her how to resize an item without distorting. She did the LO (the frames were already totally done and layed out for her in one png file) and then I came back and we talked about drop shadows. We went around the house looking for shadows and studied them a bit. All the photos were ones that I took for a clothing shop that the mother of her friend owned so she didn't do any photo work. I will get into photography this summer when we have more time. I have been including her in the POTD search for photos, lighting, subjects, etc. Today I am going to introduce her to templates and the color wheel. I figure I might as well talk design and color theory instead of assuming she wouldn't understand. This is our third year of homeschooling so I know what she should know about art already, and we touched on color theory a little bit a few years ago. The best teaching tool was for me to walk away and let her do it herself. She wanted to know how to scrapbook which makes my job SO much easier! She is trying to get her school work done so that she can look through the gallery and leave comments! I told her for every comment I get, I try and leave 2 comments for other ladies. She has a lot of work to do! It will be her typing for the day! ![]() Thanks again for all the love, ladies! |
