Red face Another 365 and December Daily Question

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the 365 Project is about taking a photo a day for a year, of anything, maybe posting it to flickr and/or producing a scrapbook page(s) in a weekly or monthly summary, with or without journaling. I think I've got that right?

I understand the December Daily is taking photos daily and putting together scrapbook pages/an album for just the month of December. Right? So are the photos for this just about Christmassy things you do or see each day? I can see there would be choosing and decorating a tree, baking, shopping, wrapping, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. But what about the other days - do you just do 'regular everyday stuff'?

I guess I'm thinking that here in New Zealand we aren't as Christmassy as North Americans and Europeans because we're coming into summer, not snow. So what do you do on those other days?
Sorry about all the questions, especially if they've been asked before, but I'm thinking of doing both projects and want to get it into my head what my goal is.
Thanks for your thoughts.

for me December daily is all about December - and thats whatever December is, laundry, shopping, decorating, school runs, gift wrapping. Its a chance to make a cohesive album/book with similar template/paper all the way through. I take five or six pictures {in theory!} everyday and it becomes a little 'look at our life' for that month. I pick pictures that sum up our day. In 365 I dont pick 'sum up our day' pics, I just pick my fave photo. I hope that helps you

My Daily December will certainly include the everyday, much of which will probably not be holiday related at all. We just don't do all that much holiday stuff, at least not enough to fill an album! So it will be very much a record of the month as a whole, but a little livelier than, say, January, when not much special is likely to happen.

If you want to look at one of the original December Daily albums there's a wealth of information here at [ Ali Edwards ] : December Daily Album 2008. 2009 December Daily prep has a lot of postings also.

I have come to realize that I am more of a 'write a story' and illustrate it with some photography, tho it was photography that led me to scrapping. I think of the DD as a very holiday decorated album with short daily snippets or words and photos in it. Holiday spirit visually but daily events. This is my interpretation of Ali's message in any case. So your pictures and journaling can easily be summery but in a holiday wrapping?

As for me, this year I'm just doing Cathy Zielske's Tags, esp as we do a lot of travel around now.

My Daily December is about the day's activities. Not everyday is filled with holiday bliss so on those days I (gasp) just skipped them or did something reflective.

December 14th of last year, I took no photos (gasp) but it was my anniversary. So I told our story a bit and that was all for that page.

And a day of looking back, rather than documenting the day.

And just an errand day with a fun photo of Ian's little shoes.

I like to think of it as documenting our lives for one month as much as capturing our December activities.

I haven't done both projects until this year. I really enjoyed my December Daily book from last year, though, so I decided to do it again. I'll just continue to take pictures of our daily lives and choose which pictures to include in each album. If they overlap, that's OK with me.

Ali's album has really inspired me too; she has some great ideas for daily photos and journaling.

I am going to use the same template Days of December Layered Template Set No. 02
but it will be a daily reflective, the pages might be dedicated to what is going on in my life on a day and/or it might be a group of photos from around town and the Christmassy things that are happening. I will also do a few pages of just things that I love-So for me it will be a big mix of what I saw in the other December Dailys I have seen here at DD

Like some of the others mine is more about the "spirit of Christmas." So, I have daily activities along with traditions, ornaments, baking, etc. . . things that pretty much only happen at the holidays.
Here's my book from last year.

I've looked through this book several times and page 43, on the 29th will always be one of my favorites!

There were so many beautiful books and pages last year and the year before - always my favorite time to gallery browse. Remember last year, by popular request, Molly brought her pages back from when we started these with Jessica Sprague's template? 2007 Daily December Book
I still go back and view these! Did we do any in 2006?
