Well, I can't think of what the problem is. It sounds like a software problem. I tried to recreate your problem. I get the red margin around the blank 5X7 template, but it is all around the edges of the picture. It sounds like there's some sort of cropping problem.
I would suggest deleting the photo from the creation page, removing it from Shutterfly altgoether, logging out, shutting down, restarting, and starting over. If you turned off easy crop, what did you select? It seems you have to choose something on that page. I have had something like that happen before where customer service had no idea what was going on. I finally talked to someone who was more knowledgeable. Did you ask for technical support? If it happens again, ask for technical support---tell them it's a software problem. Someone higher up on the food chain might be able to help you.

I believe the problem is that you turned off easy crop.. you either have to put the photo up at the exact dimensions that the card is using or allow Shutterfly to make the adjustment to the existing photo.

Actaully, after following Sarah's advice I discovered this red margin appears before a photo is ever introduced to the template. If you cursor over the landscape positioned choice you see a very thin red margin around every side; on the portrait position you will see the left and upper sides. I am continuing to work with Shutterfly but would still be interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this. Thank you both for your suggestions!
