Default Shutterfly shudder!

I am trying to print my Christmas Card at Shutterfly and keep hitting a wall. I uploaded my jpg to an existing album at the site, turned off vivid pics and easy crop. All looks great! I chose the 5X7 Photo Card option. When I move my cursor over the photobox template I see a red margin (for lack of better term) on the left and upper parts of the template; this disappears when I move the cursor off the box. I get the jpg from my album and insert it on the template. I click on the jpg to edit and all looks great so I click DONE. When the screen returns to the card creation screen the jpg is off centered by what looks to be the pesky red margin dimensions (though I cannot see the red margin until I cursor over it). When I click on PREVIEW at the top of the page, it continues to be off centered. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Shutterfly customer service can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks,
Debbie

Well, I can't think of what the problem is. It sounds like a software problem. I tried to recreate your problem. I get the red margin around the blank 5X7 template, but it is all around the edges of the picture. It sounds like there's some sort of cropping problem.

I would suggest deleting the photo from the creation page, removing it from Shutterfly altgoether, logging out, shutting down, restarting, and starting over. If you turned off easy crop, what did you select? It seems you have to choose something on that page.

I have had something like that happen before where customer service had no idea what was going on. I finally talked to someone who was more knowledgeable. Did you ask for technical support? If it happens again, ask for technical support---tell them it's a software problem. Someone higher up on the food chain might be able to help you.

Thanks Sarah. I will give your suggestions a try. I should have added that this only happens with the portrait positioning; not the landscape. That may have been why you could not recreate the problem. I'll let you know how I make out!

I believe the problem is that you turned off easy crop.. you either have to put the photo up at the exact dimensions that the card is using or allow Shutterfly to make the adjustment to the existing photo.

Actaully, after following Sarah's advice I discovered this red margin appears before a photo is ever introduced to the template. If you cursor over the landscape positioned choice you see a very thin red margin around every side; on the portrait position you will see the left and upper sides. I am continuing to work with Shutterfly but would still be interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this. Thank you both for your suggestions!
