Default best way to backup iPhoto

I have tried to research this topic here and on other sites but I'm still not sure I have a good answer.

I backup my iPhoto library to an EHD using Backup (I should be using Time Machine but I haven't made the switch yet???!!!) I would like to have another system in place which I think is recommended. I'm considering either Mozy or DVDs. The problem is that the iPhoto library comes as one large file rather than individual jpegs (or whatever ?RAW). So does anyone know what is the best way to do a backup that is not an iPhoto library - or should I just backup the whole library?

Thanks in advance.

One of my projects this week was to burn some DVDs with digital items on it. However, I have looked at my 3 iPhoto libraries, and they are 23+GB, 8+GB (the purchased digital items) and 6+GB. The DVDs I have are 4GB. hmmmm It doesn't look as if a DVD is much use for the kind of backup I wanted to do. e.g. My one folder of PSDs is 8GB on its own. They are not in iPhoto but rather in a folder.

Right now, I have a 1T ehd that is functioning as my time machine, and a 500GB that is retired from 'that job' and waiting to be scrubbed to have ONLY photos and digi things.

This may not be of help to you but it gives you an idea of the possible size of your iPhoto library and what I appear to have found re the DVDs.
