Great thread, Mary!
I find that 90% of my LOs have to have an edge going around them. Weird. I guess that I feel like my photos & elements are going to fall off of the page without an edge! ![]() I would love to try new things, but time is a real issue with homeschooling 3 kids. I could spend my days (make that weeks!) doing LOs, but family duties get in the way! I dream of taking photoshop classes, photography classes, doing internet research on PS ideas & techniques...someday.... |

time is an issue with me as well Joey! I find that I do stick with what I know and am comfortable with...I would love to try new things, learn more about PSE and create a better organization system....
for me it isn't done until there are brushes....lots of brush work for me : ) |

I don't know if my style is recognizable but I think my dog (okay my mom's) is

However, having said that, your classic, simple, clean, elegant, beautiful style is recognizable even without Buddy!

Um, yeah. I think I'm simply always going to be clean and simple. No matter what. It's just me. And adding Cathy Zielske and her templates is a scrapping heavenly match for me.

And, oh my gosh, we need to talk about templates sometime! They are soooooooo wonderful and so incredibly useful! You will love them - and I think word on the street says that you ought to check out the chats tomorrow.

It's an interesting question! One thing I learned from Cassie's thread is that I'm all over the shop with my style. For a while there I was doing more consistent pages, and then I got worried that I was stuck in a rut!! Some people are never happy, are they?! I just can't resist trying new things!!
But the one thing that IS consistent is that I don't embellish heavily or use a lot of patterned papers. I DO like to try to focus on the photo and story.

hmm, I have no idea, I don't think I have a consistent style, I love Anna's blended stuff and I love Katie's stuff, I love it all and want to try it all. Sometimes I like to do weird stuff, other times I do something plain. Right now I like bright colors and borders and stitching but who knows what tomorrow brings. I like diversity in scrapping

Heather,
don't be afraid of templates....you can totally make them their own. I am known to never use a template as planned, lol. I like to resize them, flip them, and sometimes I just borrow elements from them... I so wish I could chat tomorrow - I might make the last one if we get home in time....but being in the stands at Hayden's hockey games is more important right now - being a part of the memory rather than taking about preserving it. |

I don't like making the same quilt twice, my taste in music is extremely eclectic and I have a problem making the same things for dinner. I'm thinking I don't have a style with scrapping either. My pages just kind of create themselves. :O\ My comments, on the other hand are probably recognizable. (I run out of descriptive words for what I want to express) lol :O)

hmmm...not sure? I think if you see a photo of Lana, it's pretty obvious but otherwise I don't know?
I know what you mean though Mary, cause when I look in the gallery I can tell right away it's Kayleigh, Kirsty, PatriciaZ, etc.....even Mary, you definitely have your style down packed

No... I mean, I have certain themes. I like linear pages. I like 2 page LOs w/ lots of photos. But I also love trying new things (lately, extraction) and trying different styles. I had this same problem as a paper scrapper. For awhile (2004-2006) I knew I was a shabby scrapper. Then I couldn't handle all the work anymore (the sewing, painting, sanding, etc.) and I found myself going super simple. Ever since, I'd say I'm prety clean. Pretty simple. But with a lot of variation...

Gosh, I WISH my style was recognizable. I teach my students that what separates good writing from great writing is style, yet I have trouble achieving that in my scrapping. I can spot a Kayleigh, Particia, Erin, Tara, Aino, etc. (yours, too, Mary) LO in the gallery without even seeing their names underneath. I'm still trying to find my style. You'd think after doing this for almost 2 years, I'd have it by now, but no....still workin' on it. Actually, never mind...I do have a style; it's called lift or template. That's what I do.
What a fun thread.

I know that I am really challenged to have things clean and simple on a page-I love to have things scattered about and grunged up! I also love to start with a template and go from there. I also love the idea of borrowing items from a template-I hadn't really thought about doing that and I will have to give that a try!
Great thread

I don't think I have but I WANT one really bad! I would love for my pages to look cohesive in an album because I rarely do two-pagers. I like to look through the gallery and I'm drawn to so many different types of scrappers I feel like I can't decide on a style... maybe one day it'll click!

I am also a bit of an eclectic I think - and my pages do develop by themselves. It usually depends on the photos - what "they" call for and what I feel like doing. It being graphic, monochrome, colorful, whimsical or "scrapbooky".
I like the element of surprise- and I am actually a fond believer in books that reflect this diversity. I don't think I could make a book that matched even if I tried. But even so, I do think that I put certain touches to my pages that are recognizable to others from a distance.

I'm all over the place I think too, I don't think I have a style, although I find myself always wanting to put a border around my pages. Just seems kinda more finished with one.

First, I just want to clarify that it was Debbie's thread. She's the clever one here.
![]() I never thought I had a style. I just liked to try new stuff. However, many people tell me that I definitely do and they can spot my pages (of course, I think that has a lot to do with Jack & Ellie!)

Maybe that's the thing, we don't recognise the style we have ourselves, but others can pick it. That's interesting.

I have kinda borrowed a style and made it mine. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kayleigh's work and I have found myself lately using alot of stitching and really working with layering elements together, and patchworking patterned papers. I havent been posting alot lately (I'm lazy about keeping track of credits, and I know there are lots of ways to do this, I just get into periods of not wanting to, just wanting to create without worrying about it), But i have just finished my DS's first book. I found I went back to lots of old and unfinished pages and added stitching and extra elements, or changed around some compositions, and I was so much happier with them. I really feel comfortable with what i'm producing now, so I guess that is my style now, even though it was borrowed to begin with
. All my pages have a border of some kind too so that there is nothing lost in trimming by shutterfly!

I tend to agree that a personal style is something others recognize in us better than we do ourselves.
I know what I like to do - which is clean and orderly, with a good story told. Once I hit 3 embellishments I get antsy. Now for a challenge or when the mood strikes me, I'm happy to go out on a creative limb. Some of Anna's things are sitting in my digi stash waiting for that mood. It's one of the reasons I'm taking her upcoming class.
