Default New to digital scrapbooking

Hi,

We just took a trip to Spain and I would love to create a photobook of our trip. I have just ordered Photoshop Elements and can't wait to get started creating my book on Spain. I have almost no experience with Photoshop Elements so I will be looking for some guidance on this forum. I was looking at some photobooks on Shutterfly and saw a book that someone did of their trip to Spain. Her first page was a map with the "espana" logo from the Spanish travel and tourism website. I would love to add that element to my book as well. Does anybody know how I go about that? I have tried to copy it from the website with no success. Thanks.

Welcome, and I'd suggest starting with one of Designer Digitals own Cassie Jones' basic tutorials Getting Started: Your First Layout - Digital Scrapbooking Tutorials. They're great! That will help you walk yourself through PSE. (Hint! the 30% off sale is this week!!)

For a map, you can scan one of Spain or find a map on google and right click the image, then do a save-as to get it to your computer. You want a large image to work with in PSE so you can play with that idea while you wait for the box of Elements to arrive. HTH!

Welcome to DD -- we're glad to have you here. If you look at the purple strip at the very top of this page, there is a "Getting Started" section that will give you lots of information, and Maureen's suggestion about Cassie's tutorials is spot on. Can't wait to see your layouts about your trip.

Welcome to DD!! You have come to the right place.

I want to second (errr...third) the *Cassie Solution* (i.e. buy her tutorials) - that's the best way to start. (This weekend there is a sale, so you might just want to hang on for a couple more days....)

Then, go ahead and don't be shy - ask!- there are always answers to be found here at the forum.

Have fun!

Welcome to DD! When I first started here a little over a year ago I had no Photoshop experience either and thanks to the information and wonderful support here in the forums, it has become quite the addiction. The sale starts this Thursday and goes through next Tuesday morning with every item in the store marked down 30% so it'll be a great time to stock up on some essentials. I'm sure everyone here will be happy to tell you their favorites.

Since you are doing a book, I would suggest one of the template books in the store. It'll be a great way to get started and give your book a cohesive look. There are so many in the store Templates. And Cassie's tutorial Getting Started with Templates. All you'll need is some paper and your photos to create a beautiful book! Any other questions, feel free to ask!

I second Brittany's suggestion about using a template book from the store. It makes things so much simpler. I am currently using Katie's "Create a Book Classics" for a book about our Alaska cruise, and Cassie just posted a book using Anna's new FotoBlenz Book. If you have never done a Shutterfly book before Pattie Knox is going to be teaching a class at "Get it Scrapped" about working with Shutterfly.

I third the suggestion about working with templates. I just started a travel book using this Blocked and Framed Layered Template Book - Digital Scrapbooking Templates (Katie's book template) and it's so very easy and fast.
Have fun. Post your pages here. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Good Luck!
